If you\u2019ve attended a Bob Dylan concert of late, only to see him hide behind a piano and wearing an oversize hoodie while singing what you believe are consonants and vowels, and thought, Huh, guess what? Paul McCartney had a similar takeaway. Sir Paul told<\/a> The Rest Is Entertainment that he\u2019ll never tire of playing the greatest hits of his career \u2014 Beatles or otherwise \u2014 despite the repetition of them all when he tours. \u201cWell, I can do songs they don\u2019t know,\u201d he says of his fans. \u201cI\u2019ve got a lot of black holes. But they\u2019ve paid a lot of money.\u201d Compare this ideology to Dylan\u2019s track record for radical and often strange reinterpretations of his material, a live experience that still haunts McCartney to this day. \u201cI\u2019ve been to see a couple of shows of Bob\u2019s. I couldn\u2019t tell what song he was doing,\u201d he explains. \u201cNow that\u2019s a bit much, because I know his stuff. I get it if he doesn\u2019t want to do \u2018Mr. Tambourine Man.\u2019 Maybe he\u2019s fed up with that, but I would like to hear it. And I\u2019ve paid.\u201d (Not the point, but Dylan really can\u2019t comp him a ticket?) McCartney recently shared<\/a> that he considers \u201cMr. Tambourine Man\u201d to be one of the most significant songs in his life, in addition to Chuck Berry\u2019s \u201cMaybelline\u201d and the Human League\u2019s \u201cDon\u2019t You Want Me,\u201d because he\u2019s a man of style and taste.<\/p>\n
