\n\tDays after Gracie Abrams<\/a> revealed her new album Daughter From Hell<\/a>, the singer-songwriter has dropped the lead single \u201cHit the Wall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHit the Wall\u201d opens with a twinkling of synths, as Abrams sings, \u201cI\u2019m a crack in the pavement\/I\u2019m a slipknot\/I\u2019m afraid that my fortress\/Is a glass box.\u201d And later, as the instrumentation simmers: \u201cSooner or later, you\u2019ll find out\/I live in a pattern of breakdowns.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the video above, directed by Renell Medrano, Abrams appears lost as she opens a series of blue doors that lead to different dreamlike scenarios. One door leads to the singer sitting on a hospital bed while doctors hold up inkblots, while another opens to an eerie corridor with twins waiting at the end, a scene echoing The Shining. The visual concludes on a bittersweet note, with Abrams singing in front of a burning tree, \u201cI\u2019m not a problem you can solve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDaughter From Hell, Abrams\u2019 third album<\/a>, arrives July 17 via Interscope Records. She wrote and produced it with her longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner. On Instagram, Dessner said they began working on Daughter From Hell the same day they cut Abrams\u2019 hit \u201cThat\u2019s So True\u201d and \u201cI Told You Things,\u201d off the Secret of Us<\/a> deluxe.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor Rolling Stone\u2018s Musicians on Musicians<\/a> issue last fall, Abrams told Cyndi Lauper about her desire not to rush the new album. \u201cI don\u2019t know what I want to say yet,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s actually having something to say, not just making noise for the sake of making noise.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
