This year, Hublot gives two Spirit of Big Bang references a soothing taupe makeover. Alongside the 42mm Spirit of Big Bang Essential Taupe model, Hublot introduces the petite 32mm sister in taupe, which, in a significant departure from previous models, is diamond-free, lending it a more minimalist and versatile profile that should broaden its appeal.

Clearly targeting collectors, these single-colour references are produced as limited annual editions, available exclusively online and not featured in the permanent catalogue. The first Essential Grey reference of 2022, the Big Bang Unico, was followed by the Spirit of Big Bang and the Classic Fusion, all featuring a monochromatic grey tone-on-tone look that was substituted with an elegant taupe colour in 2025, featured (and appreciated by the MONO team, of course) on the Classic Fusion.

The signature tonneau-shaped case of the 42mm Spirit of Big Bang with a height of 14.1mm is crafted from lightweight yet resilient titanium, including the lateral protective bumpers that are usually made of rubber. Highlighted with satin-finished, polished and sandblasted finishes, the 100m water-resistant case is paired with a closed chequerboard dial, like the Coal Blue collection released in January 2026. Although the dial sticks to a monochromatic palette, it plays with textures to great effect.

Inspired by the texture of carbon fibre, the taupe dial features a weave-like texture formed by a series of alternating satin-finished and polished squares, creating a powerful 3D effect. The framed sub-dials – small seconds at 9 o’clock, 30-minute elapsed times at 3 o’clock and 12-hour totaliser at 6 o’clock – also have textured snailed interiors matching the grooves of the peripheral track. Luminescence is applied to the Arabic numerals, indices and hands. Displayed on the caseback is the high-frequency (5Hz) automatic chronograph calibre HUB4700 derived from Zenith’s El Primero column-wheel chronograph with a 50-hour power reserve and accuracy to 1/10th of a second.

For the first time in the collection’s history, the 32mm Spirit of Big Bang is presented without a diamond-set bezel, a smart move that will increase its appeal to both men and women. Sharing the classic tonneau-shaped case of the family, the stainless steel case has a thickness of 10.8mm, is water-resistant to 100 metres and is decorated with similar finishes to the 42mm model. The smooth taupe sloping flange hosts the applied hour markers that extend out over the dial, creating a sensation of depth. The date window at 6 o’clock is bevelled, and the hands and indices are treated with luminescent material. Also visible on the caseback is the HUB1120 automatic movement (base Sellita SW1000) with a 4Hz frequency and 40-hour power reserve.

Fitted with Hublot’s One Click system, each model is delivered with two interchangeable taupe-coloured straps in high-tech fabric and rubber.
