I really dug that about it,\u201d Fandango\u2019s Erik Davis posted on X in one of the most positive takes. \u201cAlso really dug Ludwig G\u00f6ransson\u2019s score, especially the parts that felt like an homage to \u201880s synth-driven horror and action thrillers\u2026 It reminded me how fun \u2018Star Wars\u2019 can be when it stops worrying about canon homework and just cuts loose. Treat it like a pulpy Saturday matinee ride and you\u2019ll have a blast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPuck News\u2019 box office columnist Scott Mendelson called the movie\u202f \u201ca solid line drive past second base, with lots of \u2018Neat\u2026 haven\u2019t seen that in a STAR WARS before\u2019 charm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMore mixed reactions came courtesy of i09\u2019s Germain Lussier, who said the movie feels like \u201ca longer, bigger episode of the show\u201d it\u2019s based on, writing: \u201cIt has one or two stand out scenes but it feels much more interested in developing the story to new locations with new creatures than the characters. Per the official synopsis: \u201cThe evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din and his young apprentice Grogu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tJoining Pascal and White in the movie is Sigourney Weaver. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/jon-favreau\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jon-favreau\" data-tag=\"jon-favreau\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jon Favreau<\/a>, who created the Disney+ series, directs the film and co-writes alongside Noah Kloor and new Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu\u201d arrives in theaters at an important time for \u201cStar Wars.\u201d The franchise has been away from movie theaters since the polarizing 2019 release of \u201cThe Rise of Skywalker\u201d and filled up the interim with streaming series, from \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d to \u201cThe Book of Boba Fett,\u201d \u201cAhsoka,\u201d \u201cAndor,\u201d \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d and more.
