Echard also confessed to being intimate with both Windey and Recchia during the episode.

Even with the fallout from fans bashing his approach to the show, Echard told PauseRewind’s Elizabeth Stanton he only has one regret.

“No, I don’t regret anything. I mean, the only thing that I would have regretted is that I felt that I allowed people to place more blame and accountability on me than what I should have taken,” he said. “And I’ve been pushing back against that recently, and I know it’s rubbed a few people the wrong way, but that’s fine, because I should have never taken 100% accountability for a lot of the stuff that happenedThere were multiple people involved, and I became a pushover.”

Echard received online hate and harassment, including death threats, as well as judgment that he “should never find love, I’m a terrible human being.”

“I just look back at my experience, and I feel very strongly now that all I did was just be honest, you know? And I don’t really think it should have led to me getting death threats and being called a piece of s–t and all this stuff,” he said.

Echard continued, “Sure, you cannot, like my honesty, but what would you have rather had the alternative that I just lied to these women? I knew I could have lied to them, and I had that conversation with the producers, I was like, I have to tell these women, I can’t lie to them. They’re gonna see this anyways. But it’s not even about them seeing it in four months. I don’t want to lie. I’m not a liar. I’ve never been one. So from a moral standpoint, I just was like, this is tough, but I’m in this situation. I’ve fallen in love with three women, and now I have to tell them all you know, because clearly one of them had an issue, so I need to just let the others know. So I only regret the fact that I apologized, I think, more than I needed to.”

“I hurt the women, and I apologize for hurting them,” he added. “Certainly I’m not taking that back, but I think the criticism was overblown, and that’s where I’m like, I was just apologizing to everybody, and in hindsight, I’m like, ‘Clayton, you should have just stood your ground and been confident in what you the actions you took, because you didn’t take them in malice, you weren’t malicious in your intent. You meant really well, and that’s, you know, you can still make mistakes and not be a monster.’”

The 33-year-old has been dating, even in the wake of an unusual paternity scandal covered on the podcast “Love Trapped,” where he was accused of impregnating a woman and forced to clear his name in court.

Considering his single status, would Echard ever consider going on “The Golden Bachelor” in 30 years’ time?

“Well, I hope I’m not single still. I really do want to have a family. And I think, I think, I mean, if it was up to me, I mean, I don’t think I’ll get to 40 [being single]I’m ready at any point with the right person. So I couldn’t even look that far ahead.”

Overall, additional appearances on reality television aren’t out of the question for the Arizona-based realtor. “I’d be willing for to go a few more years, but I would say, like past my 40s, I don’t plan on being on reality television,” he said.

“Reality television is good for challenging you to push you out of your comfort zone. It’s a good life teacher, as I’ve found,” he said. “It puts you in these foreign environments where the whole point is to create drama, because it’s like, how do you navigate in this environment? Nobody knows.”

Echard has appeared on another reality dating show, Netflix’s “Perfect Match,” which reunited him with Rachel Recchia but they quickly went their separate ways again.

“I didn’t think she they were going to bring in Rachel from ‘Bachelor.’ I thought I was going to be the only person from Bachelor Nation. So, you know, I got a bad edit again, and whatever. Though it didn’t hurt this time, I just was like, ‘Look, I’ve already been through this. This time, I don’t care.’”

Follow us on Instagram @WeArePauseRewind for all your pop culture obsessions.

Part four of the series will be available tomorrow.

This is part three of a six-part series.
