Valensi will be replaced by <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/artists\/2520-longwave\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Longwave<\/a> frontman Steve Schiltz, \u201cwho many of you will remember from our early NY days.\u201d Pitchfork has reached out to the Strokes\u2019 representatives for further comment.<\/p>\n<p>Valensi had already been absent for some of this year\u2019s Strokes shows, though he returned for <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/the-strokes-close-coachella-set-with-video-denouncing-us-foreign-intervention\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their sets<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/thepitch\/the-best-and-worst-of-coachella-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coachella 2026<\/a>. He was not in attendance when Julian Casablancas &amp; co. played The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, May 15, giving their new single \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/listen-to-the-strokes-new-song-falling-out-of-love\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Falling Out of Love<\/a>\u201d its live debut. The episode marked one of The Late Show\u2019s last before it <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert-to-end-next-year\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">officially shutters<\/a> next Thursday; David Letterman was the evening\u2019s only other guest. You can watch that performance and Letterman\u2019s interview below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/the-strokes-announce-new-album-reality-awaits\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reality Awaits<\/a>, the Strokes\u2019 first album in six years, is due out June 26. It\u2019s been led by \u201cFalling Out of Love\u201d and lead single \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/listen-to-the-strokes-auto-tuned-new-song-going-shopping\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Going Shopping<\/a>.\u201d On top of their <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/the-strokes-plot-tour-of-north-america-europe-and-japan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">imminent tour<\/a>, which spans North America, Europe, and Japan, the Strokes will play headlining sets at this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/bonnaroo-2026-headliners-the-strokes-skrillex-rufus-du-sol-and-noah-kahan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bonnaroo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/charli-xcx-the-strokes-the-xx-and-more-performing-at-outside-lands-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Outside Lands<\/a>.
