Born in Essex, Alex Hassell, 45, trained at the Central School\u00a0of\u00a0Speech and Drama. He\u00a0co-founded an experimental theatre group and was noticed by the RSC where he went on to star in Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, Henry V<\/a> and Death of a Salesman. On TV, he appeared in His Dark Materials and Rivals. He reprises the role of Rupert Campbell-Black in season 2 on Disney+. He is married to actor Emma King and lives in London.<\/p>\n

What is your greatest fear?<\/strong>
Loneliness.<\/p>\n

What is your earliest memory? <\/strong>
Kissing a girl through the window of a\u00a0wendy house.<\/p>\n

What is the trait you most deplore in\u00a0yourself?<\/strong>
Obsequiousness.<\/p>\n

Careless cruelty.<\/p>\n

What was your most embarrassing\u00a0moment?<\/strong>
On one of my first jobs, Cold Mountain, I got a wasp in my ear in front of Jude Law. He couldn\u2019t see the wasp so just saw me freak out.<\/p>\n

What is your most treasured possession?<\/strong>
My dad\u2019s chair. He sat in it every single day and now I sit in it at my desk. I\u2019ve realised the many ways in which I think about acting have been massively informed by his being a vicar and the way he talked to people, and sitting in his chair is really important to me.<\/p>\n

Driven, sensitive and playful.<\/p>\n

What would your superpower be?<\/strong>
To play guitar. I think most actors want to be frontmen of bands.<\/p>\n

What is your guiltiest pleasure?<\/strong>
Staying in my pyjamas until way after the postman has come.<\/p>\n

What makes you unhappy?<\/strong>
Cleaning.<\/p>\n

What do you most dislike about your\u00a0appearance?<\/strong>
My very, very skinny ankles.<\/p>\n

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?<\/strong>
Marlon Brando.<\/p>\n

What is your most unappealing habit?<\/strong>
Literalness.<\/p>\n

Who is your celebrity crush?<\/strong>
Ethan Hawke. I have thought about writing to him to see if he would be my\u00a0mentor.<\/p>\n

What did you want to be when you were growing up?<\/strong>
My brother Joe, he\u2019s nine years older than me.<\/p>\n

What does love feel like?<\/strong>
Being accepted for who you are but also being encouraged to continue to grow.<\/p>\n

What has been your biggest disappointment?<\/strong>
Not playing Stanley Kowalski in A\u00a0Streetcar Named Desire. I am a huge Brando fan and a big Tennessee Williams fan and it\u2019s a part I would love to have a go at. It\u2019s possible I still could but I\u2019m too old, really.<\/p>\n
