If you\u2019re experiencing gritty drama fatigue and have had enough of the blood, gore and violence they often serve up, you\u2019ll be pleased to see something far cosier return.<\/p>\n
The first run of Death Valley aired last year and introduced viewers to retired actor John Chapel (Timothy Spall) and eccentric police officer DS Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth).<\/p>\n
Janie is a huge fan of John, who rose to fame by playing a TV detective on the small screen. The duo eventually joined forces to crack a number of cases.<\/p>\n
The show was a hit, and the BBC wasted no time ordering a second run, with Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy Commissioning, saying: \u201cThe trouble with recommissioning Death Valley is it means the crime rate in Wales is about to skyrocket again. But if that\u2019s the price we pay for more brilliant performances from Timothy Spall and Gwyneth Keyworth, and more scripts from Paul Doolan, then so be it.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the opening episode, John and Janie investigate the death of a community service worker who was pushed from a tower. Jane Horrocks guest stars.<\/p>\n
