Lainey Wilson kicked off the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards<\/a> with a stomping performance<\/a> of her new track, \u201cCan\u2019t Sit Still.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe reigning Entertainer of the Year delivered the boisterous country-rock number while joined onstage by a troupe of back-up dancers clad in all white outfits with matching cowboy hats. The song\u2019s frenetic pace was complemented by some wild strobe effects, while parts of the performance seemed to evoke the work of one of Wilson\u2019s predecessors (and tonights\u2019s ACM Awards host), Shania Twain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThis also marked Wilson\u2019s first time performing live as a married woman. The country star wed<\/a> her longtime partner, former NFL quarterback, Deviln \u201cDuck\u201d Hodges, at a ceremony in Tennessee last Sunday.<\/p>\n

\n\tWilson\u2019s\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u2018s documentary,\u00a0Lainey Wilson<\/a>: Keepin\u2019 Country Cool, hit the streamer on April 22. Amy Scott, who directed the films\u00a0Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0Sheryl, directed the picture. The doc chronicles Wilson\u2019s 14-year journey to \u201covernight\u201d success, providing a rare look at what it took the beloved artist to make it in country music and the family and friends who supported her along the way.<\/p>\n

\n\tWomen dominated this year\u2019s ACM nominations. Megan Moroney<\/a>\u00a0landed her first ever nomination for Entertainer of the Year and led all nominees, with nine. Miranda Lambert<\/a>\u00a0scored eight nods, while\u00a0Ella Langley<\/a>\u00a0and Wilson\u00a0each had seven: The closest male nominee was Chris Stapleton, with six.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn April, Wilson headlined Stagecoach<\/a> on the second night. While it was her first time as headliner, the country star\u00a0last performed at the festival in 2023<\/a>. The singer-songwriter has since won Best Country Album at the 66th Grammy Awards for her fourth studio LP,\u00a0Bell Bottom Country<\/a>. The album also garnered Album of the Year at the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards and the Album of the Year honor at the 57th Annual Country Music Association Awards.<\/p>\n
