\n\tMiles Teller<\/a> has been in Cannes<\/a> promoting his star turn in James Gray\u2019s competition title\u00a0Paper Tiger<\/a>, but the star continues to be shy about press junkets after a September 2015 Esquire magazine profile.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat was so mishandled,\u201d Teller tells IndieWire <\/a>about the fallout from the cover story with an opening line that reads: \u201cYou\u2019re sitting across from Miles Teller\u00a0at the Luminary restaurant in Atlanta and trying to figure out if he\u2019s a dick.\u201d Teller still carries a grudge over the feature.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe reason why I have not done profiles is because I said, \u2018Wow, if I\u2019m not doing this interview on camera, this person can misquote things or put things out of order or say things that didn\u2019t happen.\u2019 It felt like such a violation of what actually transpired,\u201d Teller recounts.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Esquire writer carried the \u201cdick\u201d theme to the final closing line: \u201cHe gives you a hug and goes off to contribute to the cache or catalog or canon or whatever the fuck you call it and charm the world with his dickishness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTeller, who\u2019s gone on to star in such hit movies as Top Gun: Maverick and Michael, recalls telling his handlers he wasn\u2019t up to doing more sit-down press interviews. \u201cGuys, I don\u2019t think I\u2019m doing this again, because I\u2019m reading this and this doesn\u2019t sound like me to me. This is not life, so why would I ever want to be a part of something where they can just put that in?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo it\u2019s unfortunate that being a good person, that doesn\u2019t sell. People want to click on the negativity. If you go to bed and put your head on your pillow and how you treat people truly, that\u2019s what matters,\u201d Teller argues.<\/p>\n

\n\tPaper Tiger follows Hester and Irwin, played by\u00a0Scarlett Johansson\u00a0and\u00a0Teller, respectively, who are raising a family in 1980s Queens, when Irwin\u2019s flashy brother (Adam Driver) sells him on a moneymaking endeavor that leaves them in the crosshairs of the Russian mob.<\/p>\n
