A 2000s British show featuring a Doc Martin star is coming to a new streaming home in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n

Life Begins, which originally aired between 2004 and 2006 on ITV, is coming to Netflix<\/a> on Tuesday, 16 September<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It stars Pointless host Alexander Armstrong and Doc Martin’s Caroline Quentin as parents Phil and Maggie, who go their separate ways when he announces that he’s leaving to be with another woman.<\/p>\n

Maggie then has to piece her life back together, find a job and jump back into the dating pool. As the comedy-drama series goes on, it flips the script as she finds success, while things go wrong for Phil.<\/p>\n

Created by Cold Feet’s Mike Bullen, the show also stars Last Tango in Halifax star Anne Reid and Outnumbered’s Claire Skinner.<\/p>\n

In a review from the time, The Times<\/a> called Life Begins “bittersweet” with a “great” performance from Quentin.<\/p>\n

“If Cold Feet was the perfect thirtysomething comedy, Life Begins might just be the perfect fortysomething one, a natural successor to the original,” the review reads. “The style is recognisably similar, but the action has moved on. It’s older, wiser, a little sadder.”<\/p>\n

Netflix have been adding quite a few old ITV shows lately, including the first four seasons of ITV2 roman sitcom<\/a> Plebs \u2013 which hit number 3 on Netflix’s TV charts after it was added recently.<\/p>\n

The 2012 drama Mrs Biggs, starring Sheridan Smith and Daniel Mays, was also added to the streamer last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Life Begins comes to Netflix on 16 September.<\/strong><\/p>\n
