{"id":497810,"date":"2026-05-22T17:55:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T17:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/497810\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T17:55:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T17:55:10","slug":"woman-calls-out-boomer-panic-that-happens-the-second-anything-even-gets-slightly-stressful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/497810\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman Calls Out Boomer Panic That Happens The Second Anything Even Gets Slightly Stressful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman who goes by the username <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@myexistentialdread\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@myexistentialdread on TikTok<\/a> asked for an explanation surrounding a phenomenon she deemed Boomer panic.<\/p>\n<p>She used her own experience with a Lowe\u2019s cashier as her example, saying that she was in the self-checkout line, where an older woman was helping the line move.<\/p>\n<p>Woman calls out &#8216;Boomer panic&#8217; as her perception of the older generation\u2019s inability to cope when anything even gets slightly stressfulWhat is Boomer panic?<\/p>\n<p>She defined \u201cBoomer panic\u201d as \u201cwhen you are in an interaction with anyone who\u2019s a Boomer, and anytime something is going slightly frustrating or like, south, they immediately resort to that, like, screaming and screeching and like, the panic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The woman explained, \u201cI had a dowel that didn\u2019t have a price tag on it, whatever, so I ran back and took a photo of the price tag, and as I was walking back towards her, I was holding up my phone because I had multiple dowels and that was the one that didn\u2019t have the price tag on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd she looks at me, and she goes, \u2018I don\u2019t know which one that is,\u2019 and she starts like, panicking.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The younger woman described the older woman\u2019s reaction as \u201cjust like, screechy, panicking for no reason.\u201d She clarified, \u201cI\u2019m not upset, I\u2019m just trying to work with her, I\u2019m not mad. I\u2019m the one who brought a dowel that didn\u2019t have a price tag on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve only experienced this with Boomers,\u201d she stated. \u201cNever with anyone else. Only old people who just panic, and get t so angry, and then, by the end of the transaction, she was like, &#8221; Fine, &#8221; and acting nice, but like, what is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her post received over 11,000\u00a0comments, many of which agreed with her original thesis statement that this certain kind of panic affects Boomers only.<\/p>\n<p>One person commented, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/boomer-slammed-behavior-grocery-store-toddler-2131156\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cThe toddler-like panic <\/a>from lack of emotional regulation is one thing. The amnesia they seem to develop as soon as they down-regulate and act like they didn\u2019t just have a meltdown is what always knocks me out.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/mind-and-mood\/self-regulation-for-adults-strategies-for-getting-a-handle-on-emotions-and-behavior\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0No emotional regulation <\/a>or emotional permanency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-body-related-links\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourtango.com\/family\/boomers-believe-benefits-soft-parenting-major-problems\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boomers Believe 11 &#8216;Benefits&#8217; Of Today&#8217;s Soft Parenting Are Actually Major Problems<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Her experience with &#8216;Boomer panic&#8217;\u00a0is purely anecdotal, yet others agreed older people seem unable to regulate their own emotions in stressful situations<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.evanstonpsychologists.com\/2024\/08\/20\/bridging-the-generations-parents-your-teens-need-to-talk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Another person offered a heart-wrenching reason<\/a> why that might be, saying, \u201cFrom conversations with my mother, they weren\u2019t allowed to make mistakes and were harshly punished if they did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The woman who posted the original TikTok responded to that comment, saying, \u201cA lot of people mentioned this, and it breaks my heart.\u00a0I think you\u2019re right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While her definition of \u201cBoomer panic\u201d might seem harsh at first, it only takes a little extra context to understand why they might react the way they do.
