Monroe, ITV’s hit medical drama<\/a> starring James Nesbitt<\/a>, has landed on Netflix. <\/p>\n

Hailed as “slick” and “sharply written” (via The Guardian<\/a>), the series follows Gabriel Monroe (Nesbitt), a skilled and unconventional neurosurgeon. <\/p>\n

As he takes on a myriad of perplexing cases, Monroe contends with dramas \u2013 both medical and personal \u2013 after splitting from his ex-wife, Anna (Susan Lynch), while attempting to maintain a relationship with his son Nick (Perry Millward).<\/p>\n

It was a compelling, well-acted and well-written series that also does well in conveying any complexities and difficulties in the profession.” <\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively with Digital Spy<\/strong><\/a>, Nesbitt opened up about Monroe’s struggles in season one. <\/p>\n

“The work-life balance is pretty imbalanced, really. In a way, his home is the hospital. They’re so committed, these people, and so driven. I mean, they’re kind of fanatic about what they do in a sense,” the actor explained. <\/p>\n

“They spend so much time in the hospital, they’re often rarely at home, and I think if you look at the divorce rate of surgeons, it’s pretty high.”<\/p>\n

Nesbitt added, “His life is in disarray, but meanwhile, he’s putting lives back together, and I think that conflict makes for great drama.”<\/p>\n
