Three key members of The Kyle and Jackie O Show team have been made redundant, months after ARN officially axed the show in March.<\/p>\n
Content assistant Alfie Laguzza, audio producer Dean Royston known as \u201cHulk\u201d and producer Eliza Brown were today told their roles were no longer needed.<\/p>\n
News.com.au understands the three staff members had no heads-up and were surprised by the development.<\/p>\n
The trio found out their jobs were on the line via calendar invites to meetings with HR this morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is really sad they\u2019re all super talented and super loyal to the show, and they do crazy hours, and it\u2019d be such a shock to them,\u201d a source told news.com.au.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of people in radio have a dream to work on The Kyle and Jackie O Show!\u201d<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for ARN told news.com.au the broadcaster had done its best to keep as many jobs as possible. <\/p>\n
\u201cARN has been able to redeploy the majority of team members from The Kyle & Jackie O Show,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, a small number of roles could not be accommodated elsewhere in the business, and those individuals will be leaving ARN. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur focus is on ensuring everyone impacted is treated with care and respect and supported through this transition. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe thank them for their contribution during their time at ARN.\u201d<\/p>\n
Peter Deppler, known as \u201cIntern Pete\u201d to Kyle and Jackie O fans, is now working on The Christian O\u2019Connell show on the network\u2019s GOLD FM.<\/p>\n
Mr Laguzza also works for Kyle Sandilands outside of his role at KIIS, as the operations officer for his private company King Kyle.<\/p>\n
Mr Royston has the show\u2019s name, \u201cThe Kyle and Jackie O Show\u201d tattooed on him \u2013 a tattoo he got before he started working on the show.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood other members of the team were shocked by the redundancies, but have become used to the network\u2019s decisions taking them by surprise. <\/p>\n
News.com.au understands that the close-knit team are completely in the dark about the show\u2019s future \u2013 and many are worried about keeping their jobs. <\/p>\n
If KIIS had hoped to contain the news internally, the broadcaster had no such luck, as all three immediately took to social media to share it.<\/p>\n
Mr Laguzza shared that today was \u201csurprisingly\u201d his last day with KIIS and thanked everyone for the \u201csupport, belief, and guidance\u201d they\u2019ve shown him.<\/p>\n
He also added a meme on his Instagram Stories that read, \u201cWhen your boss asks you to join a meeting, and it is only them and HR\u201d, and tagged Mr Royston.<\/p>\n
Mr Royston also posted on social media, saying he was on to \u201cbigger and better things\u201d, but thanked the fans and crew of The Kyle and Jackie O Show.<\/p>\n
Ms Brown followed suit, saying she had finished up at KIIS, calling it the \u201cride of a lifetime\u201d, and adding she was lucky to work with amazing humans.<\/p>\n
The redundancies may have blindsided the three workers, but considering The Kyle and Jackie O Show has long been known as having the biggest team in radio, it isn\u2019t a huge surprise to those in the industry.<\/p>\n
A lot of popular radio shows only have a team of around five, but The Kyle and Jackie O Show \u2014 whose breakfast slot has since been filled by Mike E and whatever fill-in guest can be rustled up \u2014 has at least 10 staff members.<\/p>\n
KIIS is undergoing a period of change after the termination of both Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Both are now contesting their terminations separately and legally.<\/p>\n
