What gives?

This unusual concert trend points to a much bigger issue.

As of this writing, Posty already had to cancel six stops on his latest country music tour. The other dates are in serious jeopardy of a similar fate.

Jelly Roll is having no problem with ticket sales.

Post Malone added Jelly Roll to the ticket for the ‘BIG ASS Stadium Tour Part 2’ for the months of June and July. The latter is providing direct support. Carter Faith will serve as the opener.

Meanwhile, Jelly Roll is set to embark on what he is calling the ‘Little Ass Shed Tour’ later this week. Kashus Culpepper will be the open for the entire tour. Nine of the original 11 dates are already sold out.

May 28: iThink Financial Amphitheater — West Palm Beach, FL (Sold out)

June 2: The Wharf Amphitheater — Orange Beach, AL (Sold out)

June 7: Credit One Stadium — Charleston, SC

June 8: Live Oak Bank Pavilion at Riverfront Park — Wilmington, NC (Sold out)

June 10: Veteran United Home Loans Amphitheater — Virginia Beach, VA

June 13: Acrisure Amphitheater — Grand Rapids, MI (Sold out)

June 18: Albany Med Health System At SPAC — Saratoga Springs, NY (Sold out)

June 20: Maine Savings Amphitheater — Bangor, ME (Sold out)

June 21: BankNH Pavilion — Gilford, NH (Sold out)

June 23: Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater at Lakeview — Syracuse, NY (Sold out)

July 22: Wine Country Amphitheater – Walla Walla, WA (Sold out)

Jelly Roll actually decided to add new dates to his tour because tickets are selling so well.

May 31: Coca-Cola Amphitheater — Birmingham, AL

June 3: Brandon Amphitheater — Brandon, MS

June 5: Bank Plus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove — Southaven, MS

These venues are not quite the same size as those on the ‘BIG ASS Stadium’ Tour Part 2, hence the ‘Little Ass Shed’ name, but they aren’t insignificant. We aren’t talking about bar shows!

That is what makes the Post Malone situation so curious. Jelly Roll isn’t having issues with ticket sales.

Post Malone’s tour is in on life support.

If you have been following along here at BroBible, you know that the BIG ASS Stadium Tour Part 2 is going to be empty. A vast majority of the scheduled stops at NFL and/or college football stadiums are nowhere near sold out with less than three weeks to go. The horrible ticket sales actually forced Post Malone to cancel the first six dates of the tour. He wants to release his new album first.

I also thought the Nashville stop would be an interesting case study, because BigXThaPlug replaced Jelly Roll, but the trend remains the same. Tickets are not selling!

Here is a look at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on June 12:

Ticketmaster

This is for Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on July 8:

Ticketmaster

Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on July 15 is not any better:

Ticketmaster

You get the idea. Post Malone’s BIG ASS Stadium Tour Part 2 is at risk of either being canceled all together or being completely empty. Meanwhile, Jelly Roll is adding more dates to his tour because he can’t sell enough tickets. So he obviously isn’t the problem…

Maybe the fans who would want to see Jelly Roll don’t want to see Post Malone and/or vice versa. Perhaps people are burnt out on Posty in general. His first BIG ASS Stadium Tour was completely sold out so it is possible that his most dedicated fans already saw him and would rather see someone else.

I think it mostly comes down to cost.

The least expensive tickets for Jelly Roll’s amphitheater tour cost ~45. That’s doable. It is a fairly intimate venue. The least expensive for Post Malone’s tour hovers around ~$70 for the nosebleeds at a stadium.

Posty is supposed to begin his tour on June 12.
