Off Campus will look different next season.<\/p>\n

After season one of the whirlwind hockey romance <\/a>saw a love triangle play out between college students Hannah Wells (Ella Bright), Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston) and Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), showrunner Louisa Levy revealed in a recent interview that Heuston\u2019s character will not return for the next installment of the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot next season,\u201d Levy told TV Guide <\/a>earlier this month. \u201cBut I love Josh and I would not write him off if I can find a way to bring Justin back at some point.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hit Prime Video show<\/a> is an adaptation of Elle Kennedy\u2019s popular book series of the same name, and Levy revealed that she is interested in developing the show to include more plotlines in the book.<\/p>\n

Levy said: \u201cWe never got a chance to meet Stella, who is the person he ends up with in the book. So maybe we’ll find a way to fold him into a future season. We don’t have him [available] next season, but never say never.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heuston, an Australian actor, <\/a>also addressed speculation about the future of his musician character in a recent interview with Variety. <\/a>When asked if fans can expect his return, he said, \u201cAt this stage, no.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll see,\u201d he said. \u201cEverything from scheduling to storylines to books\u2026 there\u2019s a lot of stories to show in this particular series.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that the show is devoted to staying loyal to the book series, adding: \u201cYou\u2019ve got to stay true to Elle Kennedy\u2019s books and let that rock.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heuston\u2019s absence is not the only difference expected from season two. <\/p>\n

The first eight episodes of the series \u2014 which has sparked comparisons to hockey romance Heated Rivalry <\/a>\u2014 set up characters Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla) and Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) to be the next couple featured in future installments of the show \u2014 which would be an adaptation of the third novel instead of the second.<\/p>\n

Levy told TV Guide that she changed the source material of the show in order \u201cto keep the momentum going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHappily ever afters are wonderful and so important for this genre of novel, but they’re not that helpful for television because we have to keep telling stories,\u201d Levy said. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo part of that was my attempt to give [viewers] the Hannah and Garrett happily ever after that I wanted, that I know fans will want, but still leaving something hanging and some question going into Season 2 of, \u2018How is this going to be resolved, and how is this going to drive story forward?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI want people to tune in Season 2 and watch what we have in store.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amazon renewed Off Campus before the show\u2019s first season even premiered.
