Nikki Glaser<\/strong><\/a> shared her candid thoughts on the fallout from Netflix\u2019s Roast of Kevin Hart<\/a>, suggesting that some of the most polarizing comedians on the special failed to land their most provocative material in a way that actually worked.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight<\/a> on Monday, May 25, at the 52nd Annual American Music Awards, Glaser, who opted not to participate in Hart\u2019s special due to scheduling conflicts, acknowledged that the roast was a mixed bag for her as a viewer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was glad to be watching it, not doing it, because it\u2019s just like it\u2019s nerve-wracking, and it\u2019s like it really sends your nervous system through a lot of trauma to do one of those,\u201d the 41-year-old said.<\/p>\n

But as a viewer, \u201cI honestly had a great time,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cAnd you know, there was some stuff that I didn\u2019t love, and there was other stuff that I thought was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glaser, a two time host of the Golden Globe Awards<\/a>, revealed that she and \u201cthe funniest people I know\u201d have been dissecting the special nonstop since it aired on Sunday, May 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to keep my opinions to myself and just keep talking about them in my group chats with my other comedian friends and about what we think about it and I\u2019m not going to make it public,\u201d she laughed, refusing to name names.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve talked to every comedian about it. Everyone\u2019s talking about it, and that\u2019s the good thing,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Fellow comedian Chelsea Handler<\/strong><\/a> previously called out Shane Gillis<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 who made a lynching quip \u2014 and Tony Hinchcliffe<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 who referenced the late George Floyd<\/strong> \u2014 for their \u201clazy\u201d jokes, which she deemed \u201cracist\u201d during the May 20 episode of the Funny Knowing You podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Glaser explained<\/a> to ET that the issue wasn\u2019t necessarily the subject matter itself but the execution.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe that jokes can\u2019t be made that are racist jokes,\u201d she told Entertainment Tonight. \u201cIronically racist jokes \u2014 the problem is not that it\u2019s racist. It\u2019s like sometimes you\u2019ve got to find a way, if you really want to do a joke, you\u2019ve got to find a way to make it make sense. You can\u2019t just like say it, and it\u2019s out of nowhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s what people are having a problem with,\u201d she said. \u201cYou have to make it palatable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hinchcliffe, 41, has faced fierce backlash for his comments aimed at Hart, 46. According to the Daily Beast<\/a>, a growing petition is now demanding that Netflix and Hart pay \u201creparations\u201d over the remark. Hinchcliffe previously drew widespread condemnation for a joke about Puerto Ricans at a 2024 rally for President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> at Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n

Gillis, 38, was previously fired from Saturday Night Live in 2019 after using racial slurs against Asians on his podcast.<\/p>\n
