\n\tPrime Video<\/a> has found its next coming-of-age hit. The streamer\u2019s new college-set romantic drama Off Campus<\/a> has logged 36 million viewers worldwide in the first 12 days of release, including two full weekends, per Amazon. <\/p>\n

\n\tThat ranks as Prime Video\u2019s No. 3 most-viewed debut season ever behind Season 1 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout. Amazon has not revealed how it counts viewers; it\u2019s also unclear whether these are average viewers for the season and how the comparison was made since Off Campus and Fallout\u2018s eight-episode first seasons were released as drops while The Rings of Power\u2018s eight-episode opening season was a weekly release after a two-episode premiere.<\/p>\n

\n\tNot surprisingly, Off Campus, based on Elle Kennedy\u2019s book series, is performing best with young women. Among Women 18-34, Season 1 is Prime Video\u2019s most-viewed series debut season of all-time, per Amazon. <\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Louisa Levy,\u00a0Off Campus\u00a0follows an elite ice hockey team, and the women in their lives, as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery \u2014 forging deep friendships and enduring bonds while navigating the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series has been able to capitalize on both Prime Video\u2019s strong YA momentum created by mega hit The Summer I Turned Pretty and other popular titles such as the Culpables movie franchise and series We Were Liars and Maxton Hall as well as the massive success of the Crave\/HBO Max hockey romantic drama Heated Rivalry.<\/p>\n

\n\tOff Campus, which premiered May 13, kicked off Prime Video\u2019s summer slate of YA originals branded as Obsession Is In Session<\/a>. In anticipation of its strong debut, the series was given an early Season 2 renewal in February<\/a>. Filming on the new season is expected to begin shortly, with India Fowler joining in the series regular role<\/a> of Grace Ivers.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Off Campus Season 2 pickup was one of the first major renewal decisions made by Friedlander after he joined Amazon last fall. The series was originally developed and greenlighted by the studio\u2019s previous regime. Nick Pepper, who exited as Head of US SVOD TV Development and Series \u2013 Wholly Owned in a restructuring in late January<\/a>, just days before the renewal, had championed the show for more than two years and was very high on it ahead of its series order in October 2024<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 1 of Off Campus follows the sexy and fun \u201copposites attract\u201d romance between quiet songwriter, Hannah (Ella Bright), and Briar University\u2019s all-star hockey athlete, Garrett (Belmont Cameli). The other three hockey players who are all getting their own love stories are Dean (Stephen Kalyn), Logan (Antonio Cipriano) and Tucker (Jalen Thomas Brooks). The series already introduced Dean\u2019s significant other Allie (Mika Abdalla) in Season 1, Grace will be Logan\u2019s romantic interest.<\/p>\n

\n\tLevy co-showruns and executive produces the series with Gina Fattore. Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and James Seidman executive produce for Temple Hill. Leanna Billings of Billings Productions and Neal Flaherty also serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n
