{"id":50449,"date":"2025-09-08T07:39:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T07:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/50449\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T07:39:06","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T07:39:06","slug":"plans-for-kylemore-train-station-in-west-dublin-unveiled-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/50449\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans for Kylemore train station in west Dublin unveiled \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/iarnrod-eireann\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/iarnrod-eireann\/\">Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann<\/a> has published plans for a new train station in Kylemore, west <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The proposed station, which has been mooted for some time, will be located between Heuston Station in central Dublin and Park West and Cherry Orchard station. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The station will connect Kylemore \u2013 close to Ballyfermot and Bluebell \u2013 to the Heuston commuter line, with services running between Portlaoise and Heuston and between Newbridge and Grand Canal Dock. Plans to extend the Dart to southwest Dublin and into Kildare will increase frequency and capacity of services on the line. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">A public consultation on the plans will run until October. Following this, Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann intends to begin working on a planning application for the station development early next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The new station will provide quick and frequent access to Dublin city centre to 16,000 residents who live within 1km of the proposed development\u2019s location, Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Pending the construction of the planned Heuston West station, part of Dart+ South West development, Kylemore passengers will also have access to services heading to Cork, Limerick and Galway. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Dart+ South West will serve the new Heuston West station at Clancy Quay; Parkwest and Cherry Orchard; Clondalkin and Fonthill; Adamstown and Hazelhatch and Celbridge. Passenger capacity is set to rise from 5,000 to 20,000 passengers per hour per direction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann said, subject to a grant of planning permission and the availability of funding, the construction of the new Kylemore station will be delivered \u201cin conjunction\u201d with the Dart+ project. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Demand for a new station at Kylemore was apparent in the public consultation of plans for Dart+ South West. \u201cIarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann has taken this feedback on board and following a feasibility study this represents the first stage in the development of a new rail station in Kylemore,\u201d a representative  said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The Kylemore development will be funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/department-of-transport\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/department-of-transport\/\">Department of Transport <\/a>through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/national-transport-authority\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/national-transport-authority\/\">National Transport Authority<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Iarnr\u00f3d \u00c9ireann has published plans for a new train station in Kylemore, west Dublin.
