{"id":506788,"date":"2026-05-28T11:14:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T11:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/506788\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T11:14:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T11:14:13","slug":"moriarty-series-about-sherlock-enemy-coming-from-fremantle-archery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/506788\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Moriarty&#8217; Series About Sherlock Enemy Coming From Fremantle, Archery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/sherlock\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sherlock\" data-tag=\"sherlock\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sherlock<\/a> Holmes franchise continues its expansion with a modern reinvention series focusing on his arch nemesis James <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/moriarty\/\" id=\"auto-tag_moriarty\" data-tag=\"moriarty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moriarty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/freemantle\/\" id=\"auto-tag_freemantle\" data-tag=\"freemantle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fremantle<\/a> and Operation Mincemeat producer <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/archery-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_archery-pictures\" data-tag=\"archery-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Archery Pictures<\/a> are collaborating on Moriarty [working title], which comes from writers Chris Cornwell (A Discovery of Witches) and Oliver Lansley (Where\u2019s Wanda?).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe team said Moriarty will be a \u201cmodern reinvention of the crime procedural, based on the most famous villain in all of detective fiction.\u201d Moriarty is a Professor of Criminal Psychology at Durham University but leads a secret double life as the mastermind behind every crime of sophistication in the North of England.\u00a0When a rival criminal begins an assault on his underground empire, Moriarty will have only one choice: to join the police as a consultant, using the law as a weapon to dismantle his foe while keeping his true identity hidden from the police. Paired with Detective Imogen Burrows, a stoic Yorkshire detective, they\u2019ll form a fearsome team, but Moriarty will soon realize that the real threat isn\u2019t the rival criminal faction he\u2019s dismantling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThoughts will naturally turn to who will play the lead, with casting yet to come. Andrew Scott famously played him in Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss\u2019 hit BBC drama Sherlock and he has also been portrayed by the likes of Ralph Fiennes, Jared Harris, Eric Porter and D\u00f3nal Finn down the years. Finn plays him in Prime Video\u2019s Young Sherlock, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/04\/young-sherlock-renewed-season-2-prime-video-guy-ritchie-1236860281\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">one of a number of Holmes franchise extensions on TV<\/a> at present, alongside the likes of CBS spin-off Watson, in which he is played by Randall Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFremantle and Archery, which was founded by Kris Thykier in 2014 and has made the likes of Operation Mincemeat, Netflix\u2019s Fate: The Winx Saga and Bradley Cooper romcom Is This Thing On?, will collaborate on the project, which does not have a network attached as of yet. Fremantle is selling worldwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThykier said: \u201cWe are thrilled to be working with Fremantle to bring to life the original and character driven spin off from the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/sherlock-holmes\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sherlock-holmes\" data-tag=\"sherlock-holmes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sherlock Holmes<\/a> universe that Chris Cornwell has created.
