Kingfishr have shared their second new single of the year, \u2018The Sun Will Never Settle\u2019. Listen below.<\/p>\n
The Irish indie folk trio are currently drip-feeding fresh music and testing out unreleased tunes on the road, following the release of their debut album \u2018Halcyon\u2019 last summer.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, they returned with the track \u2018The Blade\u2019<\/a> before giving \u2018The Sun Will Never Settle\u2019 its live debut at The Great Escape 2026<\/a> this month (via Setlist.FM<\/a>). They have also played another new song, \u2018How Lonely\u2019<\/a>, at recent gigs.<\/p>\n Landing yesterday (Wednesday May 27), the studio version of \u2018The Sun Will Never Settle\u2019 sees the band unpack some difficult and confusing feelings in the wake of a break-up. The single had premiered as BBC<\/a> Radio 1\u2019s Hottest Record earlier this week.<\/p>\n \u201cThe song is about the end of a relationship, and being better off for the experience,\u201d explained frontman Eddie Keogh. \u201cSometimes these things don\u2019t work out. That\u2019s not ideal, but it also doesn\u2019t mean it wasn\u2019t worth it either.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cIf you\u2019re lucky enough to end a relationship and both be better people as a result, you are part of a very prestigious club. Congratulations.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy heart it has been broken\/ By who I cannot tell\/ By what I loved and what I lost\/ And what I did as well\/ If leaving you was easy, well it wouldn\u2019t mean a thing\/ If you want to know what life\u2019s about, you have to feel the sting,\u201d Keogh sings in the first verse.<\/p>\n He is accompanied by banjo and warm, swelling guitars on the distinctly Irish folk number, which was produced by David Curley at Grouse Lodge Studios in County Westmeath, Ireland.<\/p>\n The emotional track later finds Keogh reflecting on his \u201clonely nights\u201d and the \u201cpain\u201d he\u2019s experienced after the split. However, he shares a more optimistic outlook that both he and his ex are \u201cliving in the future that we won\u201c.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, the sun will never settle on the love I have for you\/ The sun will never settle on the love I have for you,\u201d Keogh states.<\/p>\n Kingfishr played two headline shows at the O2 Academy Brixton in London last week as part of their 2026 tour. Other gigs took place in Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff, Liverpool and Birmingham.<\/p>\n These concerts followed their double-header at Dublin\u2019s 3Arena at the end of 2025. This summer, they\u2019ll play a run of massive outdoor shows in Ireland \u2013 including stops at St. Anne\u2019s Park and Malahide Castle in Dublin.
