Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> may not be a teen pop star anymore, but she has maintained the most powerful weapon in the teenage arsenal: the eye roll. This WMA (weapon of mass annoyance) was deployed this week on Popcast<\/a> against people who criticized her for wearing a baby-doll dress during her Billions Club Live performance in Barcelona. \u201cThat\u2019s been making me so upset,\u201d she said, rolling her eyes. \u201cWhat\u2019s really disturbing is that I have worn outfits that are revealing onstage,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019ve been on stage in a sparkly bra and little shorts, which is my right \u2014 that\u2019s fun, I felt cool and comfortable in that. And that wasn\u2019t inappropriate. But me fully covered up in a dress that people deem to be childlike was inappropriate. It shows how we normalize pedophilia.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cbaby-doll\u201d dress is characterized by a large silhouette without a defined waist. Rodrigo\u2019s version was pink with small puff sleeves and a floral pattern. Though some people criticized Rodrigo for \u201csexualizing\u201d a dress associated with childhood, the baby-doll dress has historically been linked to women\u2019s liberation<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s this rhetoric that we\u2019re fed as girls since we\u2019re so little, which is, \u2018Don\u2019t wear that, because then a man is going to sexualize your body and it\u2019s your fault,\u2019\u201d Rodrigo said. She said that her goal was not to look \u201csexy\u201d but instead to look \u201ccool.\u201d \u201cI feel like I looked like Kathleen Hanna or Courtney Love, all these people who are my heroes,\u201d she said, paying tribute to her rock-and-roll foremothers. \u201cI felt cool and comfortable in it.
