{"id":508825,"date":"2026-05-29T14:33:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T14:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/508825\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T14:33:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T14:33:10","slug":"mubi-nabs-chilean-comedy-for-latin-america-denominacion-de-origen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/508825\/","title":{"rendered":"Mubi Nabs Chilean Comedy for Latin America &#8216;Denominaci\u00f3n de Origen&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGlobal film distributor, streamer and production company <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/mubi\/\" id=\"auto-tag_mubi\" data-tag=\"mubi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mubi<\/a> has snagged Latin American streaming rights to Chilean sausage docu-comedy \u201cDenominaci\u00f3n de Origen,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/global\/denominacion-de-origen-box-office-chile-1236400529\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a 2025 box office phenomenon in Chile, <\/a>which it plans to stream in the region later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe sophomore feature of director Tom\u00e1s Alzamora (\u201cLittle White Lie\u201d) lured more than 100,000 admissions in Chilean cinemas, according to Alzamora and his producing partner Pablo Calisto.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt\u2019s set in the tiny town of San Carlos (population: 50,000+), which is up in arms over what they perceive as a terrible wrong: the neighboring town of Chill\u00e1n has snatched the award for the \u201cBest Longaniza in Chile\u201d from them. Outraged by the blatant injustice, a group of San Carlos locals launch a grassroots movement seeking official designation of origin status for their sausages \u2014 determined to reclaim their town\u2019s pride and dignity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe docu-fiction hybrid was shot entirely in southern Chile and features a cast of non-pros, among them Luisa Marabol\u00ed, Exequ\u00edas Inostroza, Roberto Betancourt and Alexis Mar\u00edn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u00a0\u201cThat Mubi is bringing \u2018Denominaci\u00f3n de Origen\u2019 to its platform is very meaningful for us. Not only because it allows the film to keep living beyond its run in theaters and festivals, but also because it brings it to new audiences across Latin America through a platform with a very compelling cinematic perspective,\u201d Alzamora told Variety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI also feel there\u2019s something very beautiful about a film that is so local \u2014 so deeply tied to rural characters and to a very specific Chilean identity \u2014 being able to connect with audiences in different countries.
