\n\tLocal action-horror feature \u201cColony<\/a>\u201d maintained its firm grip on the South Korean box office during the weekend of May 29\u201331. <\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to data from KOBIS, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council, the film earned $6.7 million from 971,011 admissions over its second frame, securing a 56.67% share of the weekend market. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho<\/a>, the film follows a highly adaptive hive-mind infection inside a mall. The film has brought its cumulative haul to $24.7 million from 3,474,904 total admissions since its May 21 release.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood horror feature \u201cBackrooms<\/a>\u201d debuted in second place, capturing $2.1 million from 303,247 admissions over the three-day period. The film has gathered a cumulative total of $2.7 million since its May 27 launch.<\/p>\n

\n\tBiographical musical drama \u201cMichael<\/a>\u201d took third place, pulling in $993,075 from 136,682 tickets over the weekend and has pushed its lifetime South Korean cume to $10.2 million from 1,394,934 admissions.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Mandalorian and Grogu\u201d opened in fourth place with $638,763 from 77,048 admissions. Including its mid-week screenings, the feature has earned $940,742.<\/p>\n

\n\tFantasy-comedy \u201cThe Supernatural Sweet Shop\u201d debuted in fifth place, drawing $358,935 from 58,474 admissions. Since its May 29 release, the live-action adaptation of the popular children\u2019s series has earned $373,516.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Super Mario Galaxy Movie\u201d moved to sixth place, adding $170,548 over the three-day frame to push its cumulative gross to $10.3 million. Sports drama \u201cWild Sing\u201d placed seventh with $94,044 from preview screenings ahead of its upcoming release, bringing its preliminary total to $124,472.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2\u201d took eighth place, generating $87,049 from 11,980 admissions over the three-day window and a cumulative total of $10.6 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tRounding out the bottom rungs of the top 10 were the meta-comedy \u201cNirvanna the Band the Show the Movie\u201d in ninth place, adding $80,047 to push its cumulative total to $346,182, and the Japanese animated \u201cAnpanman : Baikinman and Lulun in the Picture Book\u201d in tenth, which added $50,147 for a total cume of $166,293.<\/p>\n
