Carrigaline Fire and Rescue<\/p>\n
Two dogs were rescued after a house fire<\/a> broke out at a home in Carrigaline last night. The beloved pets were found by rescuers in the bathroom of the burning house.<\/p>\n Carrigaline Fire and Rescue were called to the incident shortly before 11 pm, and two appliances raced to the scene. They were assisted by an appliance from Crosshaven Fire Brigade.<\/p>\n The homeowner was away, but smoke alarms alerted the neighbours, who called 112 for help. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and the two dogs<\/a> were okay after being saves.<\/a><\/p>\n The pets had “taken refuge from the fire in the upstairs bathroom,” and within minutes of arriving on the scene, the breathing apparatus team were able to get them out and handed them over to their owner. The crew then reentered to put out the fire.<\/p>\n Carrigaline Fire & Rescue<\/a> shared advice on how to prevent fire when away from home. Their ‘Top Tips’ include closing all doors and turning off all non-essential appliances every time you leave the house.<\/p>\n They wrote in a Facebook post: “We attended a small house fire last night. We attended the incident with our Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 fire appliances. Within 2 minutes of being in attendance, the CK35 crew had rescued 2 dogs who had taken refuge from the fire in the upstairs bathroom.<\/p>\n “The breathing apparatus team of 2 had handed over the dogs to their owner and then re-entered the house to deal with the fire. We were then assisted by the Crosshaven Fire Brigade with their Alpha 1.<\/p>\n “Everyone is ok, including the 2 dogs, and the fire was extinguished in good time by the firefighting BA teams. Thankfully, the homeowner had working smoke alarms that had alerted the neighbours, who then called 112.<\/p>\n “Today’s Top Tips: If you leave the house for any period of time, close all doors and turn off any electrical appliance that isn’t needed. Closing the doors will slow down the spread of fire and keep most of the smoke contained to that one room. It will buy time until we arrive. Stay Safe”<\/p>\n It has been a very busy few weeks for the Carrigaline fire crew, which responds to emergency call-outs across Carrigaline and surrounding areas, including Rochestown, Riverstick, Ballygarvan and Passage West.<\/p>\n The crew recently urged motorists to take extreme care on a notorious crossroads just outside the town. Last week, they attended two collisions at the junction at Ballinrea outside Carrigaline in the space of 48 hours. There were thankfully no serious injuries.<\/p>\n The crossroads is a well-known accident black spot and has been slated for roadworks to improve visibility and safety. The improvement works were first planned in 2024 but were delayed.
