It will help Europe become a leader in AI, strengthen its digital autonomy, and help build a more sustainable digital future.<\/p>\n<p>The package focuses on four key areas<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>securing the semiconductor base for Europe\u2019s AI ambition \u2013 the\u00a0<strong>chips act 2.0<\/strong> will help build capacity in cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, boost supply and demand, and support investment<\/li>\n<li>unlocking the potential of Europe\u2019s cloud and AI capacity \u2013 the <strong>cloud and AI development act\u00a0<\/strong>will support research and innovation in cutting-edge and sustainable technologies, streamline conditions for deploying datacentres across the EU, and introduce a single EU-wide framework to assess cloud and AI sovereignty<\/li>\n<li>strengthening digital autonomy through open source \u2013 the <strong>open source strategy<\/strong> will scale up open source alternatives in priority areas, invest in skills, start-ups and digital infrastructure, and support greater use of open source in public administrations<\/li>\n<li>digitalising Europe&#8217;s energy system, while ensuring sustainable digitalisation \u2013 the <strong>strategic roadmap for digitalisation and AI in the energy sector<\/strong> will ensure data centres are integrated into our energy system, accelerate the deployment of digital and AI solutions, and build sovereign and secure AI models for the energy sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These measures will enable Europe to become an\u00a0AI continent \u2013 that is to say, a global leader in the research, development and adoption of artificial intelligence. This new package fasts-tracks this ambition, protecting Europe\u2019s digital independence.
