{"id":516943,"date":"2026-06-03T18:53:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T18:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/516943\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T18:53:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T18:53:12","slug":"wife-of-jailed-ballyseedy-garden-centre-owner-summonsed-over-drug-driving-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/516943\/","title":{"rendered":"Wife of jailed Ballyseedy Garden Centre owner summonsed over drug-driving \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">The wife of a businessman who was jailed last year for importing millions of euro of drugs and storing it in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kerry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kerry\">Kerry<\/a> garden centre has appeared on a court summons list  accused of drug driving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Jacqueline O\u2019Duffy (44)  of Clashaph\u00faca, Ballyroe, Tralee was summonsed at Tralee District Court for driving or attempting to drive a vehicle while exceeding the blood drug limit on August 23rd, 2025, at Clogherbrien, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tralee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tralee\">Tralee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">O\u2019Duffy is the wife of Nathan McDonnell who ran the long-established Ballyseedy Garden Centre in Co Kerry. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">He is currently serving a 12-year sentence for allowing his business to be used to store a machine containing more than \u20ac32 million of crystal meth, which came from an organised crime group with links to the Sinaloa Cartel in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/mexico\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mexico<\/a>. It was intended the machine would travel on to Australia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \"> When O\u2019Duffy\u2019s case was called on Wednesday, her solicitor Padraig O\u2019Connell said  he was applying for full disclosure.
