Apple\u2019s iOS 26.6 is arriving soon. Here\u2019s what to expect from one of the last iPhone updates before iOS 27 launches.<\/p>\n

All eyes might be on iOS 27, but Apple\u2019s iOS 26.6 is coming soon, with new iPhone features, bug fixes and security updates. While iOS 26.6 won\u2019t bring in any major features, the just-released public beta<\/a> shows a few changes worth noting.<\/p>\n Eagle-eyed iPhone users might have also noticed that iOS 26.5.1<\/a> did not include security patches or bug fixes for all iPhones \u2014 it simply addressed a charging bug<\/a> in iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models. Therefore, iOS 26.6 is the next update for most iPhone users and should be on most people\u2019s radars.<\/p>\n So, what should you expect from iOS 26.6 when it is released later this month?<\/p>\n iOS 26.6 Should Squash Some iPhone Bugs<\/p>\n Apple iPhone users were expecting a number of bug fixes in iOS 26.5.1, but sadly, they didn\u2019t arrive, as the update was limited. <\/p>\n That\u2019s despite the fact that multiple users have taken to Reddit<\/a> to report issues with iOS 26.5<\/a>. One poster, using an iPhone 14, said they were finding the latest iOS version noticeably buggy. \u201cWhen I hold to view a Live Photo, something that\u2019s usually almost instantaneous, either it never it loads at all or loads for 30 seconds to a minute.\u201d<\/p>\n They also said apps \u201cwill just stop loading out of nowhere,\u201d despite numerous restarts. <\/p>\n iOS 26.6 Will Likely Include Security Patches<\/p>\n It also seemed that iOS 26.5.1 might include security patches, but the update was only issued shortly after iOS 26.5\u2019s long list of over 60 fixes. Therefore, Apple could be waiting for iOS 26.6.<\/p>\n This will mean quite a large gap between updates, so it\u2019s a good idea to keep your eye out and apply iOS 26.6 as quickly as possible after release. I\u2019ll be covering all the notable fixes and assessing how urgent it is.<\/p>\n iOS 26.6 Includes A Change To Blocked Contacts<\/p>\n The one small but notable iOS 26.6 feature change is worth knowing about if you are plagued by spam calls, or if you simply block a lot of people. From iOS 26.6, your iPhone will issue an alert when you have blocked too many contacts. <\/p>\n While you might not know there\u2019s a limit to the number of people you can block, Apple\u2019s iOS apparently does have a ceiling, according to 9to5Mac<\/a>.<\/p>\n The new iOS 26.6 feature will notify you as follows:<\/p>\n \u201cBlocked Contacts Limit Reached: You\u2019ve reached the maximum number of blocked contacts.
