{"id":518401,"date":"2026-06-04T14:21:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T14:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/518401\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T14:21:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T14:21:11","slug":"photographers-stunned-after-worlds-oldest-photo-museum-announces-400-shoot-fee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/518401\/","title":{"rendered":"Photographers Stunned After World&#8217;s Oldest Photo Museum Announces $400 Shoot Fee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-perfmatters-preload=\"\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/George-Eastman-House.jpg\" alt=\"A large historic stone building with tall windows and dormers stands behind landscaped gardens with brown shrubs, winding paths, and a sundial under cloudy skies.\" width=\"1600\" height=\"840\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-857684\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s arguably the home of photography in the United States, but the George Eastman Museum has introduced hefty fees for any professional photographer who wants to shoot there. <\/p>\n<p>The grounds of the George Eastman Museum, based in Rochester, New York, are popular with local photographers who frequently take clients there for shoots. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whec.com\/top-news\/george-eastman-museums-new-400-per-hour-photography-fee-has-local-photographers-calling-for-a-lower-more-affordable-option\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">But News10NBC reports<\/a> that a recent argument involving a prom party has prompted the George Eastman Museum to formalize new charges for photography on its manicured grounds. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn recent years, the popularity of our grounds as a setting for photographing special occasions has grown dramatically,\u201d reads the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastman.org\/photographypolicy\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow external noopener nofollow\">updated policy<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe changes in our policy are necessary because, on some days, hundreds of people come to our grounds to take photographs for senior pictures, proms and balls, graduations, engagements, and other special events. Further, many professional photographers who have not made prior arrangements are disrupting visitors\u2019 enjoyment of the property.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>It means that professional photographers taking clients there must now obtain a pre-approved paid reservation. It costs $400 per hour on the grounds and $600 for a shoot in the mansion.
