\n\tThe Night Manager star has landed a mystery role in his second le Carr\u00e9 adaptation, the BBC<\/a> and MGM+<\/a>\u2019s Legacy of Spies<\/a>, Deadline can reveal. We understand filming is currently taking place and Laurie\u2019s role will be revealed soon. <\/p>\n

\n\tLegacy of Spies is one of the BBC and MGM+\u2019s biggest budget bets in recent years<\/a>. It is based on 1963\u2019s\u00a0The Spy Who Came in from the Cold\u00a0and the 2017 novel\u00a0A Legacy of Spies, which itself is a prequel and sequel to\u00a0The Spy Who Came in from the Cold\u00a0and\u00a0Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.<\/p>\n

\n\tLaurie joins an ensemble cast including Matthew Macfadyen as legendary spymaster George Smiley, Dan Stevens as the enigmatic Bill Haydon, All Quiet on the Western Front\u2019s Felix Kammerer as Hans-Dieter Mundt\u00a0and Agnes O\u2019Casey, who reprises her Spy Who Came In From The Cold West End role of Liz Gold. <\/p>\n

\n\tLaurie plays the snarling, villainous Richard Roper in the BBC and Prime Video\u2019s big-budget adaptation of le Carr\u00e9\u2019s The Night Manager<\/a>. With a third season of that one in the works<\/a>, this puts Laurie in the rare position of starring in two separate adaptations of an author\u2019s work that could land around the same time. He was presumed dead at the start of The Night Manager Season 2, which launched earlier this year, but returned with a vengeance midway through the series to exact revenge on Tom Hiddleston\u2019s Jonathan Pine. He was also an EP on The Night Manager.<\/p>\n

\n\tLaurie also stars in the likes of Apple TV\u2019s Tehran and recently joined Amy Poehler in Peacock\u2019s Dig.<\/p>\n

\n\tLegacy of Spies comes once again from The Ink Factory<\/a>, which is run by le Carr\u00e9\u2019s sons Stephen and Simon Cornwell. Fifth Season is selling worldwide.<\/p>\n
