{"id":5194,"date":"2025-08-17T15:30:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T15:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/5194\/"},"modified":"2025-08-17T15:30:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T15:30:09","slug":"liverpool-linked-with-move-for-centre-back-nathan-collins-liverpool-fc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/5194\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool linked with move for centre-back Nathan Collins &#8211; Liverpool FC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Liverpool are expected to push ahead with a move for <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/crystal-palace\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Crystal Palace<\/a> centre-back Marc Guehi, but the champions are also linked with <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/brentford\/\" title=\"Brentford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brentford<\/a>\u2018s Nathan Collins.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Guehi started for Palace in their <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/premier-league\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Premier League<\/a> opener against <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/chelsea\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chelsea<\/a> on Sunday, however there remains a strong chance he leaves before the transfer window closes.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool are his most likely destination and talks are ongoing over a deal which could be worth around \u00a335 million.<\/p>\n<p>Having already signed Parma youngster <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/giovanni-leoni\/\" title=\"Giovanni Leoni \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Giovanni Leoni<\/a> there is less urgency over bringing in another centre-back, but the Reds seemingly have a number of candidates.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/football\/article-15008281\/Man-United-Liverpool-Tottenham-target-SHOCK-Brentford-star-face-ONE-major-issue-transfer-pursuit.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Mail<\/a>\u2018s Mike Keegan that includes <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/brentford\/\" title=\"Brentford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brentford<\/a> and Republic of Ireland defender Collins, with Liverpool joining <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/man-united\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Man United<\/a> and <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/tottenham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tottenham<\/a> in their interest.<\/p>\n<p>Collins is into his third season with the Bees, having joined from <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/wolves\/\" title=\"Wolves\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Wolves<\/a> in a club-record \u00a323 million deal in 2023, but clearly Anfield would be a step up.<\/p>\n<p>Crucially the 24-year-old would qualify as a homegrown player in the <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/premier-league\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Premier League<\/a>, which is also the case with Guehi and is imperative when it comes to the squad-building process.<\/p>\n<p>However it is maintained that <a data-ail=\"325807\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/brentford\/\" title=\"Brentford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brentford<\/a> will be unlikely sellers having already seen Bryan Mbeumo and captain Christian Norgaard depart the club this summer with Yoane Wissa set to follow.<\/p>\n<p>Norgaard\u2019s successor in the armband, Collins has four years remaining on his contract and the club also hold an option to extend that by a further two years.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-lazy-type=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/2024-02-17-220-Brentford_Liverpool-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"LONDON, ENGLAND - Saturday, February 17, 2024: Brentford's Nathan Collins during the FA Premier League match between Brentford FC and Liverpool FC at the Brentford Community Stadium.
