{"id":522461,"date":"2026-06-07T00:27:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T00:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/522461\/"},"modified":"2026-06-07T00:27:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T00:27:33","slug":"chinese-black-hole-hunting-scientist-dai-liang-quits-us-for-shanghai-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/522461\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese black hole-hunting scientist Dai Liang quits US for Shanghai post"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">A physicist who was awarded a fellowship reserved for the \u201cbrightest young scientists\u201d in the US and Canada for his work hunting for black holes has returned to China.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Dai Liang, who received a Sloan Research Fellowship for physics in 2021, recently took up a professorship at Fudan University in Shanghai and joined the Fudan Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The fellowships were established in 1955 by former General Motors chief executive Alfred Sloan to support early-career researchers across eight fields.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Sixty fellows have gone on to win Nobel Prizes, with 17 winning Fields Medals for mathematics, according to the Alfred P.
