Here\u2019s what to expect. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"embed-base color-body color-body-border link-embed embed-2 link-embed--long-title\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/davidphelan\/2026\/05\/31\/apple-ios-27-release-date-when-you-can-download-and-test-the-new-iphone-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Apple iOS 27 Release Date: When You Can Download And Test The New iPhone Update\" data-ga-track=\"forbesEmbedly:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/davidphelan\/2026\/05\/31\/apple-ios-27-release-date-when-you-can-download-and-test-the-new-iphone-update\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ForbesApple iOS 27 Release Date: When You Can Download And Test The New iPhone UpdateBy David Phelan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some things are likely to remain the same, such as the screen sizes which will continue to be 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches as they are for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max respectively. <\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s thought that Apple will switch from one kind of display technology, lower-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) to LTPO+.<\/p>\n<p>The Shift To LTPO+ Panels<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLTPO technology lowers power consumption by dynamically adjusting display refresh rates. Conventional LTPO applies oxide materials to switching thin-film transistors (TFTs). LTPO+ extends oxide usage to driving TFTs as well, enabling finer current control for OLED light emission and allowing displays to optimize operation based on surrounding conditions and user environments, improving battery efficiency,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelec.net\/news\/articleView.html?idxno=10214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.thelec.net\/news\/articleView.html?idxno=10214\" aria-label=\"The Elec\">The Elec<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the new displays will continue to be OLED screens, but using a more advanced technology. <\/p>\n<p>Fixing Low-Light Flicker And Grain Issues<\/p>\n<p>Finer current control, as the report says, means that the iPhone display will be more responsive in different lighting conditions, which in turn suggests that the phone screen will perform better in lower light. This \u201ccould help reduce any flickering or grainy appearance in low lighting,\u201d as <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/06\/04\/iphone-18-pro-getting-new-display-upgrade-with-two-benefits-per-rumors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2026\/06\/04\/iphone-18-pro-getting-new-display-upgrade-with-two-benefits-per-rumors\/\" aria-label=\"9to5Mac\">9to5Mac<\/a> put it.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, this could make for better performance of the always-on display, that technology which means that your iPhone screen is never completely black and you can see the time without waking it. <\/p>\n<p>The Real Crowd-Pleaser: Longer Battery Life<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s an improvement that users will enjoy, but there\u2019s something else which will be more of a crowd-pleaser: better battery life. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a truth universally acknowledged that however brilliant the new features on a smartphone are, nothing quite beats having battery life you can depend on. <\/p>\n<p>And since new features are often energy-hungry, as phones become more powerful, the time they can perform at their best can dwindle. <\/p>\n<p>This report, if correct, suggests that the next iPhones could at least maintain current battery levels. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Apple iPhone 17 Pro: will its successor have a better display?
