June 8 (Reuters) – Space infrastructure company Quantum Space said on Monday it would \u200cgo public through a merger with \u200cspecial purpose acquisition company Inflection Point Acquisition in a \u200bdeal that values the combined company at about $1.2 billion.<\/p>\n
The deal comes as investor interest in the space sector has surged ahead of \u200ca long-awaited SpaceX \u2060initial public offering, expected to fetch a valuation of about $1.75 trillion.<\/p>\n
Here are \u2060some details of the deal:<\/p>\n
\u2022 The transaction includes a $300 million private investment in public \u200bequity (PIPE) led \u200bby Inflection Point \u200bAsset Management.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Quantum Space \u200csaid the proceeds would help accelerate its flagship Ranger spacecraft platform and expand manufacturing facilities.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Quantum Space, led by former NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, is developing the platform for \u200cnational security, civil and \u200bcommercial missions.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The deal \u200bis expected to \u200bclose in the fourth quarter \u200cof 2026, after which the \u200bcombined company \u200bwill operate as Quantum Space and trade on Nasdaq under the ticker “QSPC.”<\/p>\n
\u2022 Cantor \u200bis also \u200cserving as exclusive financial advisor to Quantum \u200bSpace.<\/p>\n
