Strong takes over the role of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, succeeding Jesse Eisenberg, who led the original film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAaron Sorkin returns to the franchise doing double duty as both writer and director, expanding his role after winning an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for \u201cThe Social Network.\u201d The film tells the true story of former Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Madison) and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (White), whose reporting exposed the company\u2019s internal research and decision-making. Their work culminated in \u201cThe Facebook Files,\u201d a 2021 investigative series revealing Facebook\u2019s harmful effects on teens and its role in spreading misinformation, including content linked to political violence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen the trailer premiered at this year\u2019s CinemaCon, the annual convention for theater owners, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/social-reckoning-trailer-cinemacon-jeremy-strong-zuckerberg-1236719577\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sorkin explained<\/a> why he needed to make a sequel to his 2010 corporate drama: \u201cThere isn\u2019t a life that Facebook\u2019s algorithm hasn\u2019t touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it\u2019s time to say more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Social Network\u201d was both a critical and commercial success, grossing $226 million worldwide and earning eight Academy Award nominations, including best picture. The film won three Oscars and has since been widely cited as one of Hollywood\u2019s most influential portrayals of the tech industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Social Reckoning\u201d is produced by Sorkin alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser.
