A former healthcare building which is set to go under the hammer, has been welcomed by Wicklow Wexford TD Malcolm Byrne, but said the length of time it stood vacant was a \u201cscandal\u201d. Deputy Malcolm Byrne said he was tired raising the issue of the former clinic building and welcomed the HSE for finally making a decision on the derelict property.<\/p>\n
The property has been left vacant for 11 years is located in Camolin, Gorey. The building will have a reserve starting price of \u20ac165,000. With needed refurbishments, the abandoned property has plenty of business opportunity for the surround area.<\/p>\n
“In the eleven years since the HSE abandoned the building in Camolin, there have been numerous efforts to have something done with the building.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a scandal that the HSE left it so long. I was tired of raising it locally and in Leinster House,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He further said the vacant building was a community concern. \u201cIt was a cause of great frustration to locals that this fine building in the heart of the village was left unused,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Deputy Malcolm also said the HSE has been under pressure to deal with vacant or underused buildings in its possession. While in the Seanad, Malcolm Byrne discovered that the HSE had over 400 such buildings nationwide.<\/p>\n

Deputy Byrne welcomed the building going up for auction but also shared his frustration with it taking so long. \u201cI am happy to see action finally being taken on these buildings but annoyed it has taken so long.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe building in Camolin is a fine structure and I look forward to it finally being put to good use,” Malcolm added.<\/p>\n
The former healthcare centre is set to go for online auction on Thursday, August 21 at 12 noon. The substantial former centre will have a disclosed reserve price of \u20ac165,000.<\/p>\n
