Joe\u201d crossover movie, based on the Hasbro toy lines for Paramount, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/derek-connolly-transformers-g-i-joe-movie-writer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Wrap previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The untitled new movie will continue the story after 2023\u2019s \u201cTransformers: Rise of the Beasts,\u201d where Anthony Ramos\u2019 character Noah Diaz was offered a job with G.I. Joe in the film\u2019s post-credit scene.<\/p>\n<p>The first Michael Bay-directed \u201cTransformers\u201d films were game-changing box office hits in the late-2000\u2019s\/early 2010\u2019s, temporarily sitting alongside the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d series, the \u201cPirates of the Caribbean\u201d films, the \u201cShrek\u201d franchise and the \u201cSpider-Man\u201d trilogy atop the franchise blockbuster tentpole mountain.<\/p>\n<p>While domestic interest peaked with \u201cRevenge of the Fallen\u201d ($409 million in 2009) and \u201cDark of the Moon\u201d ($355 million in 2011), 3D bumps for \u201cDark of the Moon\u201d in 2011 and a shrewd bet on China with \u201cAge of Extinction\u201d (which set its entire third act in Hong Kong and featured Chinese government officials racing to the rescue) pushed those films over $1 billion worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransformers: The Last Knight\u201d tumbled in 2017, earning just $131 million domestic, $228 million in China (compared to $300 million for \u201cAge of Extinction\u201d) and $605 million worldwide; and the cheaper, better-reviewed, Travis Knight-directed 80\u2019s prequel \u201cBumblebee\u201d earned $127 million\/$171 million\/$471 million in 2018 on a $135 million budget.<\/p>\n<p>The last hybrid live-action film in the series, 2023\u2019s \u201cRise of the Beasts,\u201d grossed just $429 million worldwide. 2024\u2019s animated \u201cTransformers One\u201d grossed $128.7 million worldwide \u2014 the lowest-earning entry in the franchise\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Fuchs is one of today\u2019s most in-demand writers in Hollywood \u2013 as a screenwriter, his films have grossed over $1.9 billion at the global box office. Most recently, Fuchs co-created, co-showran and executive produced the critically acclaimed HBO series, \u201cWelcome to Derry.\u201d He\u2019s currently writing a live-action feature adaptation of \u201cMy Hero Academia\u201d for Netflix and Legendary.
