Angine\u00a0De Poitrine<\/a>\u00a0once again have people talking after their silent acceptance at the Billboard Canada Awards.<\/p>\n

The anonymous and mysterious polka-dotted Montreal duo\u00a0have\u00a0been one of the breakout musical acts of 2026,\u00a0releasing their second album \u2018Vol. II\u2019 in April<\/a>,\u00a0going viral around the world for their eccentric live performances\u00a0and\u00a0winning celebrity fans including Dave Grohl<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (June 10),\u00a0the band were the recipients of the Global Breakthrough Award at the ceremony in Toronto\u2019s Massey Hall, and as they took to the stage, they teased\u00a0the possibility of speaking in public for the first time.<\/p>\n

However, guitarist Khn de Poitrine and percussionist Klek de Poitrine stood silently with their award, and after a moment of anticipation, Khn touched their polka dot hat and triggered an explosion of confetti over the entire audience.<\/p>\n

Last month,\u00a0they kicked off the opening night of The Great Escape in Brighton<\/a>\u00a0with an in-demand headline set at the opening party, presented by\u00a0NME.<\/p>\n

It was later named as one of the top 10 shows of the festival by\u00a0NME<\/a>, who noted: \u201cThe Deep End tent bursts open for the papier-m\u00e2ch\u00e9-headed headliners, inciting\u00a0moshpits\u00a0and adulation for the viral spectacle of their microtonal madness. While AI slop may be on the rise,\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0something in the startling unpredictability and sheer musicality of these two polka-dotted aliens that\u00a0feels\u00a0essentially human.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their rapid ascent and online buzz\u00a0has\u00a0also reportedly led to\u00a0a fake version of the band popping up in Russia<\/a>.<\/p>\n
