\n\tOliver Tree<\/a>, the eccentric singer known for viral hits like \u201cAlien Boy\u201d and \u201cLife Goes On,\u201d has died at the age of 32 following a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n \n\tThe musician born Oliver Tree Nickell was one of six people killed when two helicopters collided mid-air over the Brazilian city; Rio de Janeiro police told the Associated Press<\/a> that Tree was on one of the helicopter\u2019s passenger list, with CNN Brazil<\/a> confirming that Tree was on board at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n \n\tThe musician, who initially recorded under the name \u201cTree,\u201d formed a following by self-releasing his own music over the Internet in the 2010s, including a Thom Yorke-approved cover<\/a> of Radiohead\u2019s \u201cKarma Police\u201d<\/a> that featured on his debut EP Demons.<\/p>\n \n\tAfter attending CalArts, Tree returned to making music in 2016, including releasing his first official single \u201cWelcome to LA.\u201d Known for his quirky look and viral, self-directed music videos<\/a> \u2014 visuals he would later accuse other artists of ripping off<\/a> \u2014 Tree soon became a favorite on TikTok and the festival circuit, culminating with his debut album Ugly Is Beautiful in 2020.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\tTree\u2019s second album Cowboy Tears \u2014 \u201ca country album for people who don\u2019t like country,\u201d he said of the LP \u2014 arrived in 2022, followed 18 months later by 2023\u2019s Alone in a Crowd.
