Nicola Coughlan<\/a> has joined the cast of the upcoming sixth season of Only Murders in the Building<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Derry Girls<\/a> actor will be stepping into the Disney+<\/a> series alongside David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis and Kathryn Hunter.<\/p>\n

The casting announcement was made by the show\u2019s official account and Disney+, which shared on social media, \u201ckeep calm and update the case file\u201d, alongside the actors\u2019 names and photos.<\/p>\n

Coughlan is best known for her roles as Clare Devlin in Derry Girls and Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton, and most recently starred in a stage adaptation of The Playboy of the Western World in London alongside fellow Irish actors \u00c9anna Hardwicke and Siobh\u00e1n McSweeney.<\/p>\n

Also joining the murder mystery cast is Tennant, who is best known for playing the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who from 2005 until 2010, returning as the 14th Doctor in 2023. His other notable screen roles have included Barty Crouch jnr in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire; Detective Inspector Alec Hardy in Broadchurch; Crowley in Good Omens; and Lord Tony Baddingham in Rivals. He is being enlisted alongside fellow, former Doctor Who and Broadchurch star, Whittaker.<\/p>\n

Only Murders in the Building follows a crime-solving trio, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, who have a podcast about murders committed in their swanky New York City apartment building.<\/p>\n

Throughout its previous five seasons, the series has received 49 Emmy nominations, winning seven.<\/p>\n

The upcoming season of the US crime comedy, which will be set in London for the first time, will also feature Jamie Demetriou, Jane Horrocks, Anjana Vasan, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol.<\/p>\n

Last week, it was announced that Spice Girl Geri Halliwell-Horner and Emmy-winning actor Martin Freeman had also signed up for the show.<\/p>\n

The last season featured Oscar-winning actors Meryl Streep and Da\u2019Vine Joy Randolph, Inside Out star Richard Kind and Emmy-winner Nathan Lane.<\/p>\n

It has also previously featured Paul Rudd, Shirley MacLaine, Tina Fey and Renee Zellweger.<\/p>\n
