{"id":537919,"date":"2026-06-16T11:51:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/537919\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T11:51:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:51:13","slug":"jon-stewart-calls-trumps-ufc-white-house-event-god-awful-mockery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/537919\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Stewart Calls Trump&#8217;s UFC White House Event &#8216;God-Awful Mockery&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jon-stewart\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jon-stewart\" data-tag=\"jon-stewart\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jon Stewart<\/a> spent much of Monday night\u2019s episode of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-daily-show\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-daily-show\" data-tag=\"the-daily-show\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Daily Show<\/a> lauding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/culture\/culture-commentary\/jalen-brunson-knicks-championship-game-five-win-1235577506\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Knicks\u2019 victory<\/a>, describing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/nba\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nba\" data-tag=\"nba\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> championships win as resulting in an \u201coverwhelming sense of joy and solidarity and diversity and community and a good amount of crying and a lot of contact high.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tStewart recounted New York\u2019s enthusiastic reaction to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/knicks\/\" id=\"auto-tag_knicks\" data-tag=\"knicks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Knicks<\/a> winning, including the appearance of multiple Spider-Man costumes, a dancing MTA bus driver, and a drum line. The right wing media, of course, described the festivities as \u201cchaos\u201d and \u201cmayhem,\u201d but Stewart noted that reaction was a \u201crecord low\u201d for a Saturday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI guess it\u2019s all about what side of the aisle you sit on: Where you see a mob destroying a school bus, I see people of all faiths and creeds and colors and sexualities coming together to destroy a school bus,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cIt ain\u2019t a melting pot until you light that bitch on fire!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tStewart then launched into a comparison and takedown of the other big sporting event of the weekend: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/donald-trump\/\" id=\"auto-tag_donald-trump\" data-tag=\"donald-trump\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-features\/white-house-ufc-fight-donald-trump-american-dream-1235577863\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UFC Freedom 250<\/a>, which took place on the White House lawn. \u201cWhat a god-awful mockery of an event that somehow managed to find a way to devalue both combat sports\u00a0and\u00a0our national dignity,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cWho even aired this embarrassing shit?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAs it turns out the event was aired on Paramount+, the parent company of Comedy Central, which airs The Daily Show. That revelation quickly caused Stewart to switch gears. \u201cAnd what a fine event it was,\u201d he said, sheepishly. \u201cOnce again, the leaders of Paramount+ providing us\u00a0all\u00a0with incredible content at reasonable prices. I am proud to stand with the Paramount family and whatever shows they decide to either cancel or put on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe show immediately cut to one of the fighters, Josh Hokit, declaring, \u201cMichelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?\u201d Stewart pretended to laugh before replying, \u201cMy God, what a fucking asshole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAfter playing a clip of reporters claiming the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ufc\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ufc\" data-tag=\"ufc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UFC<\/a> event was something the \u201caverage American\u201d could connect with, Stewart noted, \u201cYou know, the average American, they don\u2019t want their White House to stand for certain morals and values. You guys always trying to draw a distinction between the real America of the heartland and the elites in the big city. But it\u2019s never been true. If being a real American means sacrificing and working your ass off to try and achieve the dream of a better life for your children, no Americans are more real than New Yorkers. None of \u2019em. We have eight and a half million people here. There are probably more hardworking American-value individuals in the liberal hellhole of New York City than exist in the entire states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Mississippi combined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tStewart concluded, \u201cThe real division in America isn\u2019t between cities and rural areas or suburbs or heartland values and coastal elites or liberals and conservatives, it\u2019s between people anywhere who find joy in community versus those who seem to only find it in fealty.
