As per the source, if a name gets tied to payment trouble, it tends to stick. Some contractors are reportedly skipping the project altogether. Sources claim others are demanding big deposits and firm guarantees before they\u2019ll sign on. The new mindset, according to one source, is \u201ccash up front, then we\u2019ll talk.\u201d<\/p>\n

A different insider was even more direct, saying, \u201cpeople aren\u2019t lining up for this job anymore.\u201d The money is there, the source added, but \u201cthe trust isn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another source pushed back on the idea that affordability is the real issue. The couple can clearly pay to finish the house. According to this insider, \u201cthe issue is confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a tightly connected industry, insiders suggest, that kind of memory doesn\u2019t fade quickly.<\/p>\n
