\n\tWith the latest take on the Evil Dead<\/a> franchise hitting theaters next month, Francis Galluppi<\/a> recently teased what\u2019s in the franchise\u2019s future\u2026 so to speak.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Evil Dead Wrath<\/a> writer\/director revealed that the upcoming feature, which is scheduled to premiere April 7, 2028 in theaters, is a prequel set in 1972 and featuring \u201cthe in-laws from hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is yet another great departure,\u201d he told Dread Central<\/a> of his entry into Sam Raimi\u2019s franchise. \u201cIt predates everything. It takes place in 1972.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGalluppi added of the synopsis<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s the story of a French woman in a bad marriage in America, and\u2026 what we will discover along the ride \u2013 was probably an abusive husband, whose family did not believe her \u2013 and so they were basically the in-laws from hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing Raimi\u2019s original trilogy, which included The Evil Dead<\/a> (1981), Evil Dead II (1987) and Army of Darkness (1993), the franchise was rebooted with Fede \u00c1lvarez\u2019s Evil Dead in 2013.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith Lee Cronin\u2019s Evil Dead Rise (2023) steering the movies in a new darker direction, to the tune of $147M globally, the horror is set to continue with S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek\u2019s Evil Dead Burn, premiering July 10 in US theaters.<\/p>\n
