{"id":541127,"date":"2026-06-18T06:28:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T06:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/541127\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T06:28:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T06:28:18","slug":"phonepe-google-pays-combined-upi-share-falls-below-80-in-may-npci-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/541127\/","title":{"rendered":"PhonePe, Google Pay&#8217;s combined UPI share falls below 80% in May: NPCI data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The combined share of PhonePe and Google Pay in India&#8217;s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ecosystem fell below 80% in May 2026, according to calculations based on data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).<\/p>\n<p>PhonePe remained the market leader with around 10.73 billion transactions during the month, while Google Pay processed about 7.59 billion transactions.<\/p>\n<p>\nTogether, the two platforms accounted for roughly 79% of total UPI transaction volumes in May, based on NPCI&#8217;s monthly app-wise transaction statistics.<br \/>Overall, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/business\/finance\/upi-transactions-all-time-high-over-29-lakh-crore-may-travel-ipl-ws-el-19916918.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">UPI network processed a record 23.20 billion transactions<\/a> worth \u20b929.90 lakh crore in May 2026. Transaction volumes increased 24% from 18.67 billion in May 2025, while transaction value rose 19% from \u20b925.14 lakh crore a year earlier, according to NPCI data.<strong>ALSO READ | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/personal-finance\/list-of-countries-with-upi-payments-travel-france-combodia-uae-nepal-ws-el-19921913.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">From France to Cambodia: You can use UPI while travelling to these countries<\/a><br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a Moneycontrol analysis of NPCI data, the combined share of PhonePe and Google Pay fell below 80% for the first time since NPCI began publishing app-level UPI statistics.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the decline in combined market share, the two platforms continue to dominate India&#8217;s digital payments ecosystem, accounting for nearly four out of every five UPI transactions.
