The couple moved to the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park in the fall of 2025<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Their new royal residence is a 15-minute drive from Eton College, where Prince George will start school this fall<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Kate Middleton<\/a> and Prince William<\/a> surprised fans with a new picture after their day out at Royal Ascot, and the snap may have shown them somewhere new.<\/p>\n On June 18, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted a new photo that showed them standing outside in their Ascot finery. “A wonderful day at Royal Ascot. W & C,” they wrote below the photo on X<\/a>, using the initials of their first names, William and Catherine<\/a>, to signal that the note came directly from them.<\/p>\n The tall double door marked a new photo backdrop for the couple, with some speculating that it was captured at Forest Lodge, their family’s new home.<\/p>\n Kate Middleton and Prince William in a photo released on June 17, 2026. In October 2025, the Prince and Princess of Wales moved to the eight-bedroom mansion in Windsor Great Park<\/a> with their kids, Prince George<\/a>, 12, Princess Charlotte<\/a>, 11, and Prince Louis<\/a>, 8. PEOPLE understands that the property is the family’s “forever home” and where they intend to remain<\/a> even after William becomes King one day.<\/p>\n Prince William, 43, and Princess Kate, 44, are currently renting the residence once called Holly Grove for about $410,691 on a 20-year lease, and they funded some minor renovations<\/a> and their move privately.<\/p>\n The change marked an upgrade from Adelaide Cottage, also in Windsor. The four-bedroom home, which they moved into in the summer of 2022, became the backdrop to difficult times, including Queen Elizabeth<\/a>‘s death that September, the ongoing fallout around Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a>‘s step back from their royal roles and King Charles<\/a>‘ and Princess Kate’s cancer diagnoses, announced weeks apart\u00a0in 2024.<\/p>\n Forest Lodge, formerly known as Holly Grove, Windsor Great Park, Berkshire, 2018. “Adelaide Cottage was a place of pain, suffering and sadness. After such rough times, it’s perfectly understandable they would want a new place,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith previously told PEOPLE<\/a>.<\/p>\n The move to Forest Lodge keeps them close to Windsor Castle as well as Princess Kate’s family, who live nearby<\/a>.
