\n\tJenna Ortega<\/a> is a robot with a bright outlook in the trailer<\/a> for the forthcoming feature adaptation of Klara and the Sun<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tOrtega and Amy Adams<\/a> star in director Taika Waititi<\/a>\u2018s movie that is set for theatrical release from Sony<\/a> Pictures on Oct. 23. Waititi and Dahvi Waller co-wrote the script for the film that adapts author Kazuo Ishiguro<\/a>\u2018s 2021 dystopian sci-fi novel.<\/p>\n

\n\tKlara and the Sun stars Ortega as Klara, a solar-powered robot whose purpose is to assist the lives of the humans around her. Mia Tharia, Steve Buscemi<\/a> and Natasha Lyonne<\/a> round out the cast. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGlorious sun, please let today be my day,\u201d Ortega says in the trailer. \u201cLet me find a friend.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLater, Adams warns her, \u201cConsider this a trial period. You\u2019re still under warranty, and I won\u2019t hesitate for a second to send you back.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tWaititi, whose most recent directorial effort was 2023\u2019s Next Goal Wins, produces Klara and the Sun alongside David Heyman<\/a>, Jeffrey Clifford, Rosie Alison and Garrett Basch.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film\u2019s first footage debuted at CinemaCon<\/a> in April. \u201cThis is a hopeful story about friendship and connection at a time when technology makes us feel so alone,\u201d TriStar Pictures president Nicole Brown told the crowd. <\/p>\n

\n\tOrtega\u2019s forthcoming features include The Gallerist and J.J. Abrams\u2019 The Great Beyond. The actress will also return for the third season of Wednesday. <\/p>\n

\n\tAdams was recently seen in Nightbitch and Disenchanted. Her forthcoming features include At the Sea and Star Wars: Starfighter.
