\n\tCarlos Santana<\/a> remembered Clive Davis<\/a> as a \u201cvisionary\u201d who could \u201chear the intangible before anyone else could see it\u201d in a tribute to the late music executive.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe believed in Santana<\/a> from the beginning, and years later he believed in us again,\u201d Santana wrote on Facebook<\/a> following Davis\u2019 death<\/a> on Monday. \u201cThat kind of faith is a beautiful blessing, and I will always be grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDavis signed Santana\u2019s eponymous band in the late Sixties as part of his efforts to turn Columbia Records into a powerhouse rock & roll label. Santana enjoyed a wildly successful run under Davis, releasing two Number One albums (Abraxas<\/a> and Santana III<\/a>), and hit singles like \u201cEvil Ways,\u201d \u201cBlack Magic Woman,\u201d and \u201cOye C\u00f3mo Va.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd while Santana remained on Columbia long after Davis was forced out in 1973, they reunited in the late-Nineties when Davis brought Santana to Arista Records. The label released the band\u2019s blockbuster 1999 album, Supernatural<\/a>, which earned Diamond certification from the RIAA and won nine Grammys<\/a>, including Album of the Year.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cClive understood that music is more than entertainment,\u201d Santana wrote in his tribute. \u201cMusic is a healing force. It brings people together beyond fear, beyond separation, beyond borders. He dedicated his life to championing artists and helping them share their gifts with the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe guitarist continued: \u201cClive recognized the light in people. He encouraged artists to trust their own voice and step into their destiny. Because of his vision, countless musicians were able to reach hearts across the planet. I thank Clive for his friendship, his trust, and his belief in Santana. \n\tAlong with Santana, tributes to Davis have poured in from the countless artists who worked with him, including Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, Alicia Keys, and Bruce Springsteen<\/a>. \u201cHe treated me with the same respect and kindness as a 22-year-old nobody as he did after all my success,\u201d Springsteen wrote of Davis. \u201cA great man.
