Met Eireann has warned that Ireland will experience some “very uncomfortable” weather<\/a> this week. Temperatures are expected to climb over the coming days, potentially reaching 30C or higher by Thursday.<\/p>\n A rare five day weather advisory has been issued for the entire country, running from 12 noon Monday until 9am Friday. It states: “Exceptionally warm weather <\/a>will occur over Ireland this week. Daytime temperatures will exceed 25C, with temperatures possibly reaching 30C on Thursday.<\/p>\n “Very mild, humid and possibly uncomfortable at night as temperatures will generally stay above 15C . Thunderstorms are possible also, particularly on Thursday.<\/p>\n “Potential impacts include water safety issues due to increased use of lakes\/beaches<\/a>, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress.”<\/p>\n A separate nationwide Status Yellow high temperature warning<\/a> has also been issued and runs from 12 noon Tuesday until 9am Friday.<\/p>\n With the muggy, sweltering weather expected to ramp up over the coming days, many households will face unbearably hot nights as they struggle to keep their homes cool.<\/p>\n The national forecaste<\/a>r has said the hot weather “will produce impacts such as uncomfortable conditions during the day and especially by night”.<\/p>\n Experts are encouraging people to try a surprisingly simple trick to help cool rooms down – placing bowls of cold water near windows around the house.<\/p>\n Energy experts say this is a cheap and easy way to help lower indoor temperatures without relying on fans or cooling devices.<\/p>\n LEAP Energy Advice recommends leaving bowls filled with cold water, or ice cubes if you have them, on windowsills, worktops or near open windows to help cool the air<\/a>.<\/p>\n It said: “Although it may seem peculiar, placing bowls of water around the house can aid in cooling the hot air. This simple technique can be surprisingly effective.<\/p>\n “This cooling method works particularly well when the bowl of water, or ice, is positioned near an open window or in front of a fan, as the airflow helps to circulate cooler air throughout your home.<\/p>\n “If you need to cool down quickly, try placing a bowl of ice and cold water in front of your fan’s blades. This will cause the air blowing from the fan to pass over the icy water, creating a refreshing sensation on your skin. It’s like having a homemade, DIY air-conditioner.”<\/p>\n Even without a fan, bowls of cold water can still help bring temperatures down indoors, however experts say airflow will make the effect much more noticeable, Express <\/a>reports.<\/p>\n British Gas added: “While fans aren’t the most expensive appliance to run, using one is still likely to impact your fuel bills – but there are some things you can do to get the most out of the energy you’re paying for.<\/p>\n “To really cool down a room with a fan, place a deep dish of ice in the front of it to whip up the water mist and chill the breeze. You can also point a box fan out of an open window in the evenings – this pushes the hot air out instead of just blowing it around the room.”<\/p>\n
