At the time, U.K. records<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/liam-payne-will-cheryl-cole-estate-1235333715\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> obtained by\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/a> stated that the gross value of Payne\u2019s estate was \u00a328,594,888 (about $38 million), while the net value \u2014 after debts and expenses are covered \u2014 amounted to \u00a324,279,728 (or about $32 million).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/applying-for-probate\/if-theres-not-a-will\">United Kingdom government website<\/a> states that if a person dies without leaving a will, the closest living relative \u2014 normally the husband, wife or civil partner \u2014 followed by any children 18 or over can apply to become the administrator of the estate. While some of the money can be used now, the majority of the estate will be secured in a trust until Payne\u2019s son turns 18 years old, per People.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn 2016, when he was 23, Payne began dating Cheryl, who was 33 at the time. Their son, Bear, was born in March 2017. In a social media post <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pop\/liam-payne-cheryl-cole-baby-boy-birth-7736635\/\">announcing<\/a> news of their son\u2019s birth, Payne shared a photo of himself holding Bear and wrote, \u201cI\u2019m incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it\u2019s a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far.\u201d He added, \u201cI\u2019m completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she\u2019s really made my dreams come true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tPayne died on Oct. 16, 2024 at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires. His death sent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/liam-payne-tributes-charlie-puth-ty-dolla-sign-paris-hilton-1235135669\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shockwaves<\/a> across the music industry and his former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan remembered him in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/one-direction-liam-payne-statement-1235136574\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tribute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re completely devastated by the news of Liam\u2019s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.
