So it wasn\u2019t stopping.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He ended up getting a taxi with other people at the bus stop who were heading to the concert which he described as \u201cvery affordable\u201d at \u20ac9 per person, \u201cbut it was coming back that I really had the issue\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Murray planned to get the number 16 home to Drumcondra where he is based, but says it was cancelled. He then resorted to trying to get a taxi home. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI started hailing them down and they would say \u2018sorry I am booked\u201d and there was one case where a fellah said \u2018I\u2019m booked out to Kildare, the booking is for \u20ac80, how much will ye offer me to cancel it?\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Murray would normally expect to pay \u20ac35 for a taxi from Marlay Park to his home, but \u201capparently the traffic was so bad and there was so much congestion in the city he [the taxi driver] had to take the M50\u2033. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI had never done that before in a taxi but it doubled the price and brought it up to \u20ac70 and I was really shocked to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Reuban Murray at Olivia Dean in Marlay Park on Saturday\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/SARA6S22BVDQNGMGXF6K3OBF3A.jpeg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"1066\"\/>Reuban Murray at Olivia Dean in Marlay Park on Saturday <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Orlaith N\u00ed Churrain, a recent bachelor of arts graduate from University of Galway left the concert early due to a negative experience she had two years ago after a Hozier concert when she was \u201cstuck\u201d in Rathfarnham with her friend Holly Maguire. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cIt was insane trying to get home because we stayed for the last song, we were so silly,\u201d N\u00ed Churrain said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe had to walk and then ring my best friend\u2019s aunt and uncle to come and collect us. We were there for the guts of an hour-and-a-half after the gig trying to get home before we rang them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">This time, the friends left the concert early to get a shuttle bus to Dundrum, before getting the Luas into the city centre. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe knew that we had to leave at the last song, so we were at the corner for a while and we were like \u2018okay let\u2019s go\u2019. We left the gig in the middle of Man I Need. We danced our way out, we didn\u2019t see the Irish dancers, no fireworks, no nothing, but it was grand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Orlaith N&#xED; Churrain and her friend Holly Quirke at Olivia Dean in Marlay Park on Saturday\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ALVNEBAWI5B4RKJCRTUC5IUJMQ.jpeg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"1066\"\/>Orlaith N\u00ed Churrain and her friend Holly Quirke at Olivia Dean in Marlay Park on Saturday <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The pair paid \u20ac262 for two nights\u2019 accommodation in TUD\u2019s student accommodation in Smithfield. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cIf it wasn\u2019t Olivia Dean we wouldn\u2019t go. It\u2019s stressful because the roads are closed as well. Even if you wanted a lift, it would be a lot to ask,\u201d N\u00ed Churrain said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Chloe Barrett, a 24-year-old journalist from Cork, is going to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/florence-and-the-machine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/florence-and-the-machine\/\">Florence and the Machine<\/a> at the same venue on Sunday and is \u201cstressed\u201d about transport to and from the event. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI have had three people tell me that Marlay Park is the worst place to get to and from for a concert,\u201d Barrett said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cI have never been before \u2013 I have only been to the 3Arena and the Olympia, so I am nervous. Usually I would get the Aircoach back to Cork at night, but because people have told me that it can take an hour-and-a-half to two hours to get out of there, I probably can\u2019t rely on booking a time for an Aircoach because I would be stranded if I miss it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Chloe Barrett at Zach Bryan in Cork\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ARXFC2IHZFC3FG5VZCK36YOETI.jpeg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"684\"\/>Chloe Barrett at Zach Bryan in Cork <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Barrett and her friend have booked Keavan\u2019s Port Hotel on Camden Street for \u20ac243, where they know their pre-booked coach will collect and drop them off. The coach itself was \u20ac20 which Barrett said was good value, \u201cfor the peace of mind more than anything else\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The venue, located on a 300-acre public park in Rathfarnham, Dublin, holds a capacity crowd of 40,000 and is set to host several more large concerts this summer including Lewis Capaldi, The Cure, Florence + the Machine, Mumford &amp; Sons and Pitbull.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A spokesman for Dublin Bus said that the service \u201cis employing all available resources\u201d to alleviate the rise in demand due to concerts. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Dublin Bus will be dispatching chief inspectors on-street who will assist with queries, the spokesman said, but customers are also encouraged to plan their journeys and allow for extra time to get to their destination. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In addition, Dublin Bus is operating a concert express service which runs direct bus routes to concerts in Marlay Park, Malahide Castle and St Anne\u2019s Park. These can be booked online <a href=\"https:\/\/concertexpress.ie\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/concertexpress.ie\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">There are also coaches to Marlay Park provided by JJ Kavanagh departing from Limerick, Nenagh, Roscrea, Portlaoise, Kildare, Clonmel, Callan, Kilkenny, Waterford and Carlow.
